We get a sense of that change in her in Season 2. Although she continues to face more tribulations, she faces them with purpose. She knows how she must lead; not out of fear, but through courage. ‘Courage is found in unlikely places,’ - Bk1, Ch4, The Fellowship of the Ring. /7

But since having touched the darkness, she now knows what lights to follow, and knows the truth of what it means to be Faithful. Her conviction is set. "Come what may." "...though they know that they can only come to morning through the shadows." - Bk4 ChII The Two Towers. /6

"Sometimes we cannot know until we have touched the darkness." Míriel's expedition ends in disaster; she found the darkness she was warned of. She lost her eyesight, she lost her father and eventually even lost her kingdom, usurped by her cousin Pharazôn. Loss after loss. /5

I've discussed before how the sign of the fallings leaves could have been misinterpreted. Either way, this ties into 'reflected light' being misguidance. Decisions made out of fear are not true guidance. So how to find the true light to follow? /4

One could argue that she makes the decision to go to Middle-earth out of fear, once she sees the leaves of Nimloth falling at the end of Episode 4. She does this not because she knows it is the right thing to do, but because she interprets the sign as telling her to do so. /3

When we first meet Míriel, she is ruling Númenor, with Pharazôn as her advisor, trying to keep a steady peace between the Faithful of Númenor, and those who are not. Galadriel calls her out for ruling out of fear. We can view this as Míriel following the reflected light. /2
