I'm going to kindly assume Labour have multiple people drafting their comms material because in one FAQ they're using inclusive "anyone who is pregnant" language and the next it's back to "woman" and "families". No thought given to trans men, solo parents on their own or pregnant young people.

Anyone who is pregnant and eligible for publicly funded health services. For a scan to be covered, a referral from a GP, midwife or specialist will be required.

A woman having the two routine scans recommended in a straightforward pregnancy, at $90 each, saves $180. A woman needing five scans could currently pay up to $450 across her pregnancy. Under Labour, she pays nothing

Ask any Wellington based public servant if they had the resources needed to do the jobs demanded of them by ministers under the last Labour Government 😒 If you want a well resourced public service do not waste your vote on Labour.

Labour proposed its own cuts to the public service in late 2023, when in government, to the tune of 2 percent.

Asked about how many jobs would have been lost then, Hipkins said the advice he had was "there were a lot of vacancies that would be unfilled, and that they would just disestablish those jobs, so they wouldn't have resulted in people losing their jobs".

Oh fuck off Chris. Those Wellington backroom public servants you treat like a dirty word are keeping the public service running despite chronic under resourcing and constant kickings. Labour pretend to support public servants while throwing thousands of us under the bus.

Speaking ahead of his party's caucus meeting on Tuesday, Hipkins said "more than half of the jobs in question are outside the Wellington region".

"So, these are frontline people working all over the country, they're social workers working with vulnerable kids and families, people working in our prisons, people working at our border, people working in the conservation estate, they are frontline jobs."

Yeah? Well I read the policy AND paid attention to the fact TOP's actions were contrary to their own policies. Anyone still treating the opportunist party as a credible voting option is either a sucker or as untrustworthy as TOP is.

With trust in our political system hitting all-time lows, it's time to build transparency back into politics, and refresh our parliamentary systems for long-term policymaking and better delivery. To strengthen our democracy and help end political gridlock, Opportunity will:

Limit political donations, build systems for full donation transparency and enforce prosecution for illegal political donations.

I wish. All they're actually proposing is a half-baked targeted CGT to pay for three free GP visits that people won't be able to redeem if their GP is too busy to book them in.

That appears to contradict Hipkins, who this morning was asked by Newstalk ZB’s Canterbury Mornings whether the party was receptive to the group’s ideas.

“Lobby groups can argue for whatever they want. We’ve announced our tax policy, which is a simple targeted capital gains tax, and that’s as far as Labour will be going in that area.”
