I have no strong opinions about Katie Porter either way but it says a lot that the alternative to politics for most longtime politicians is something along the lines of "influencer" or "pundit" and not, like, a real-person job.
Are they scrambling though? Seems like a mix of relief and backup plans made with plenty of consideration.

People ask what it’s like to live in DC right now. And I want to stress that it’s not the stupid banners or Reflecting Pool or even the East Wing demo that has degraded our quality of life. It’s stuff like this: high speed chases that put us and our neighbors at great risk.

The hilariously ironic side effect of Sergio Gor cancelling the new US embassy in New Delhi is that it ensures the persistence of the current embassy...which is a spitting image of the Kennedy Center, just shrunk a bit, with gold columns intact.

One of Neff's most "successful" bubble house communities is a now-overlooked moment in the architectural history of DC area. 12 (called "Igloo Village") were built in Falls Church on US 29, opened in 1941. But they had problems (esp. mold) & were demolished within two decades. Those shutters!

Even in critical articles, coverage of Trump's building projects constantly justifies his weird obsessions as the result of his real estate career. But maybe the obsessions are actually because he is a narcissist who lacks executive function and doesn't take his job seriously?
