Nice interview with David Sedaris (one of my favourite writers) by @patrickfreyne.bsky.social in the @irishtimes.com But what’s with the pipe in the profile photo? I thought he gave up smoking years ago? Weird photo but maybe that’s what the publishers are sending out!
@businesspost.bsky.social reporting that @simonharrisireland.bsky.social is reviewing the carbon tax in Ireland and that “A slowing of the rate of carbon tax increase could well be on the cards.” More demolition of environmental policies by the Govt. Meanwhile Europe burns! #SpeirGorm
Well this is not good!! “The models “identified and exploited” previously unknown vulnerabilities to escape the sandbox, gain internet access and steal login details to carry out the hack.” OpenAI admits an AI ‘agent’ caused a major cyber breach by itself giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

I’m enjoying watching the Swift and Little Swift flying over the square in Marrakech. House Bunting and Common Bulbul around as well. No Storks yet! I won’t get any real birding done on this trip.
On a boat trip around Ireland’s Eye in Howth in search of Puffins. Just the one today but always love seeing them! #IrishBirding #SpeirGorm
A Grey Heron roosting in the Phoenix Park Dublin, but note the Turtle sunning itself on the branch. One of two there this morning. #SpeirGorm
Great night at the Re-Turn Awards in Croke Park. Proud to see @tudublin.bsky.social so well represented — 7 shortlisted projects and 4 awards, including a silver for the Bolton St Re-Turn scheme. Brilliant student-led sustainability in action 👏 @tudublinsustain.bsky.social
Moth monitoring in my garden this morning. Scalloped Oak, Bright-line Brown-Eye, Garden Carpet, Yellow-Barred Brindle (I’m open to correction on all of these) and lots more. Lots of Light Brown Apple Moth who eat my apples!! ☹️ @connectingcabra.bsky.social #SpeirGorm
Clarkes Bakery in Cabra looking for an apprentice baker WITH ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE!! They’ll be inundated! #SpeirGorm
@electionlit.bsky.social do you want any of this stuff, or will I continue with my plan to wallpaper the house with them?
Down for a day of birdwatching in Wexford. Cahore Marsh, Lady’s Island Lake and now at Carnsore Point in glorious spring weather! Cetti’s Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, lots of Terns and my first Swift of the year. Off to Tacumshin Lake now! #IrishBirding.
Mary Scally ex- @tudublin.bsky.social launches Mozart’s Vespers by the TU Dublin Chamber Choir to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Aughrim St Church! @stoneybatterrocks.bsky.social @cosybatter.bsky.social @leafybatter.bsky.social
@tudublin.bsky.social President, Deirdre Lillis, welcomes a huge crowd of student volunteers at the TU Dublin Volunteering Awards. Double the crowd from last year and 3 times last year’s total with 21000 hours volunteered! @volunteerireland.bsky.social @tudublinsustain.bsky.social
Yesterday I used the Bohemians Library of Things for the first time to take out a Pressure Washer for the day. Great service for Bohs members! More of this around Ireland please! @bfcdublin.bsky.social @connectingcabra.bsky.social @phibsboro.bsky.social @cosybatter.bsky.social
After a day in the garden (trying to fix my pond) it was lovely to open up the new copy of @birdwatchireland.bsky.social Wings magazine and read a review of @gardeningwell.ie Natures Acre. @connectingcabra.bsky.social plan to have Ciaran speak at the Cabra Biodiversity Festival in May.
Also very happy to show my kids the board of past @dublincityuni.bsky.social Students Union Presidents. In 1990-92 I followed Clare Daly who was quite the firebrand, and was a couple of years behind Kevin Gildea the comedian, who was brilliant during debates.
“The Iranians you’ve been talking to for 2 days . . . Are they in the room with us now?”.
I’m linesman at my son’s U16 game in Balbriggan. If the ball goes out there’s a 30 meter cliff about 10m away from the sideline. We’ve just lost one ball so far! (And we haven’t lost any linesmen)
Being French, University of Technology at Troyes have also presented the Doughnut Economics portrait as a Baguette! Ooh la la! @doughnuteconomics.bsky.social @creativedynamix.bsky.social @antaisce.bsky.social @greenfoundationirl.bsky.social
At a European university consortium (EUT+) meeting in Troyes, France. The university hosting us (UTT) have used @kateraworth.bsky.social Doughnut Economics to create a Doughnut portrait of the university. @tudublinsustain.bsky.social will host the group in July with Doughnut Economics as a focus!
