More pumpkins! I'm adding more gameplay variety through new pumpkin types. There's tough and weak pumpkins, and spiky ones that punt monsters out of the room. The jack-o-lanterns now come in two varieties. Friendly ones drop helpful items. The tricksters may do something cool or backfire on you.
I'm also adding more "things" into the rooms to try and make the mansion feel more "lived in" instead of just having a bunch of crates everywhere. Here's the same room in the original versus the new game.
In the graphics department, I'm revisiting and reworking old graphics. I fixed the palette so it has much better contrast now. Part of this was due to me having my monitor calibrated weird before, oops.
Care must be taken when designing the scrolling rooms because the player doesn't get much vertical visibility. I'm exploring ways to counter this. For example, I avoid placing vertically-facing frogs in vertically-scrolling rooms because they can nail you before you can react.
Multi-screen scrolling rooms! These larger rooms help break up the layout and add central hub areas, and give the player a break from the more intricate rooms. This needed special consideration in the procgen and room systems, since a room can be shared by multiple grid spaces.
Health and squirm system! You can now escape the pred's stomach via directional inputs. Each pred will have different sequences and sometimes even minigames. I want this to be simpler and less frustrating than Boreal Bear but still challenging, so I'll continue to iterate.
In addition to chasing prey, pathfinding actors can also run from preds. This makes the world feel more alive but I'm not sure if it's "fun" to play because it becomes harder to feed kobolds to barnacles, for example. I'll probably keep tweaking this. (sound)
Pathfinding! In the original game, kobolds would just go straight toward you and then target random nearby points if something was in the way. This time I'm using grid-based A-star but with some tweaks to make the grid virtually invisible to the player.
In the new codebase, everyone is an Actor, and all Actors are capable of being pred and/or prey, needing only some glue code to run things like swallowing animations. I'm also adding support for multiprey and voreception, though this brings challenges (both code and design).
I'd like to nominate @sphericalfoxsky.bsky.social ! Will be feeding him a giant tank of Mr. Pibb!
Happy pride month! My dick certainly knows how to celebrate. @/dozendav.bsky.social

(vore game) While we were making Wild Mouse Whoopsie, @therainbowidiot.bsky.social doodled title screen graphics for the preds. Due to time constraints, they got left out... until now, that is!
(vore game) Been fixing up many of the sprites in Wild Mouse Whoopsie (my art skills are still a WIP). One of the most challenging bits remains the snake, which needs to look coherent even as the camera rotates. Sprite for head, 3D model for body. Still a bit jank, but happier with it now.
Made a ruler tool so you can measure whether two pieces will line up. Coming in the next update.
Made a bunch of icons. Aesthetics are definitely inspired by a certain rollercoaster game, but with my own spin on things. Also, coaster-wise, some mechanics will be a bit... different.
Currently making a goofy, spooky vore game about rollercoasters. Actual vore coming later but I'm feeling good about my progress so far.
Belly thrust (Yes, this will have a gameplay function later)
About time I started animating Leif more. They'll react to you breaking the bricks as you try to knock them down. Still mildly WIP but I'm happy so far.
Hey everyone, I'll be at LVFC this year! My games will be playable at the vore meet on Saturday. Hope to see y'all there!
Got a working GIF. Every GIF-to-video converter I tried didn't work right so I had to do it in DaVinci Resolve haha
Definitely feeling the time pressure trying to get this game done by the end of the month. Only just now spriting and animating an actual pred, and still got more work to do. But I like what I've done so far.
