23) Metroid: Zero Mission (2004, Normal difficulty) I'm actually surprised at how much stuff I got without looking at a map all the time. Not bad at all but feels more like a weird hybrid between Super and NEStroid rather than a faithful remake of the former. Chozodia can get bent, in particular.
Glad that's over! That post-MB section sure kills the pace of the game and feels like a lousy excuse to bust out the zero suit.
22) Chou Uchu Keiji Gavan Infinity Yeah, this one is carried p hard by its action, as well as lesbianism. Not sure what Death Gavan's deal was the whole time and I'm kinda missing a central message in this show, aside from vague mentions of emotions and such. Still looking forward to Omegahorn tho
Ridley in the ZM manga: "Foolish child! I am your eternal nightmare! You can never defeat me! You can never overcome me! Why won't you join your parents in the depths of my bowels?" Ridley in ZM: *slowly fading into darkness letting the archangels take him*
Aight, let's give Zero Mission a spin and see how far I can get without a full map til it's time for the 100% clean-up at the end.
P sure the Samurai rangers got a Figuarts 5-pack back in 2013, even with PR branding. But yeah, despite Hasbro giving us quite a bunch of full teams, I'm annoyed they also left some gaps before pulling the plug on LC. Hell, the last wave even started new teams rather than completing existing ones.
Guys, we might be so back. One step closer to "Cheesed to meet you!"
For the first Metroid game with the aspiration to explore Samus' character in more depth, it still bugs me that most of its development in Fusion happens through Adam as the primary vector. Hell, half of her monologues in that game, including the epilogue, are dedicated to him.
Teo definitely nailed the current zeitgeist of resignation buried beneath dozens of layers of irony
21) Razor - Decibels (1997) Very much an acquired taste but strangely enough I fw this one. Good to find some good thrash metal again.
Shame that this translation hack restoring Hard Mode didn't do the same with Child Mode ending slides. So much superior to the Adult Mode slides, since these focus on Samus' inner thoughts about her past, rather than her body.
20) Metroid Fusion (2002, Normal Mode) Being more linear certainly didn't mean it was much easier. Bosses sure were tough as nails. While I do dig the spooky atmosphere and (mostly) smooth controls, stuff like Samus glazing her former CO out of nowhere kinda rubs me the wrong way.
This feels much bigger than reintroducing squats thru Votann. I wonder when half-Eldar Space Marine librarians will be next...
Picking up my Fusion playthrough again after a few weeks. The plot thickens...
"Wow, good thing Omegahorn isn't trying too hard to look like Juspion 2!" I say remembering moments later that Juspion 2 already existed in Brazil.
The way that Unknown fails to smack her is kinda cute ngl. Like as if your cat tried to hit you out of spite for berating the little bugger
The sheer arrogance of this guy, holy shit! Just when this convo was shaping up to be comparatively profound.
