I can highly recommend Another Fine Mess, by the insightful and funny Tim Moore. A look into the Model T and modern America
Great couple of pods. Thank you. I used to watch Dragons' Den every week. #1 reason (anecdotally) entrepreneurs wanted $$ was "expand to US market." Close. Rich. Easy. That mindset needs to shift for big & small biz. The shift will hurt but it's better than a collapse Read Stephen's book:
This is the coffee cup that I use at the bike shop. (Yes, it's actually a thermal stainless mug)
Unless the US is targeting civilian infrastructure, which is possible, more airstrikes are just turning big chunks of rubble into little chunks of rubble.
On the advice of my doctor, I had this installed a few months ago. Seems important today.
Finished "Ask a Pro" by author/pro cyclist @philgaimon.bsky.social. A collection of his magazine columns covering his years as a pro rider. An entertaining mix of humour & insight, perfect company to #TdF Also recommend his pod/YouTube channel for race coverage
Marine One does not land on grass. It lands on pads located under each wheel. As a career Sea King Bubba, I can attest that the H3, especially one as heavy as the VH-3D variant, does not do well on soft surfaces. (Ask me how I know) Pic: US DoD
Finished "The Traitors Circle" by @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social. A great narrative history of informers and betrayal in Nazi Germany, written in incredible detail but never dry. Timely for today. It answers the question of how could "it" have happened, and how might it happen again.
Happy 4th to all my American friends, especially those with whom I served here, in the US, and abroad A remembrance of better times, at the Bicentennial, when Boy Scouts fr NA gathered in Philadelphia in friendship and purpose May those days return 🇨🇦🇺🇸 Reply if, by chance, you were also there
I cycle by this regularly, on my rides to St Thomas or Port Stanley.
Every year on this day, I don my Team Canada cycling jersey and take a 50k ride around the country. Not this year. Be heat smart fellow Canucks. Celebrate but do so wisely and respect the weather warning #LdnON
Junior and her hubby have lived in PEI since 22. It is an underrated vacation destination. I love visiting but don't get there enough
Yes, the leader of the opposition displaying his economic bona fides on YouTube
A wet and busy May meant that my first 100k ride to Port Stanley was today. Mid-ride fuel stop at Harbour Merchant Coffee Company. If you're in town, 10/10 recommend
Sopranos S2.E10 "Bust Out" - Tony & crew take over a sports store when the owner loses big at a poker game. They bankrupt him by using the line of credit to buy expensive goods until it is forced to close. In the parlance, this is called a bust out. It's what DJT and crew are doing to a nation.
#OntarioParks stores exist solely to make me want to spend money. Love the vintage logo of my youth. (Sadly, Ontario Parks isn't here. #DoFo prefers to keep them on the bad place) #Pinery
@justinling.ca recommended "The Triangle of Power" by Finnish Pres @zstubbs.bsky.social. An insightful look at IR in the current age by a scholar and practitioner. A highly recommended nerd read.
Back from my weekly shift at Squeaky Wheel in #LondonON PSA: Friends don't let friends buy bikes from Facebook Marketplace I hate telling people that their "deal" will cost more in repairs than a good used ride from the co-op. Esp those w/o a lot of disposable income
Read Chasing Shadows by UofT's Ronald J. Deibert @rondeibert.bsky.social An excellent look at this software and its use
