Poet on two wheels, with a few too many vintage typewriters, way too many plants, two amazing daughters, and a broad range of liberal beliefs. I sling words for a living, and not afraid to hurl a few.
It’s a very specific type of track racer thing … #333forlife #gofastturnleftdontstoppedaling
“… a thousand tiny cuts …” As the small paper I prefer reaches the end, the paper bail struggles to hold it in place, so it twists on the platen, forcing me to type with one hand and gently hold the paper down. The end result is sometimes comical. #typewriter #poetry #memoriesofsummerslongago
I did a short ride, with legs absolutely trashed from heavy #legday yesterday. It was chaos. Too hot to ride east, so stayed local along coast, and it was mayhem, before noon.
Started Father’s Day at the track, complete with my “Here Comes Cool Dad” socks that the daughters gave me years ago.
It was also a beautiful day to head to the beach with my youngest daughter. So I did.
Another Sunday morning HoP Church to start the day. I ride much less these days, with the bulk of my fitness time spent in the gym instead, but the track remains the place I most feel at home on a bike. Still my happy place, all these years later.
Old Man Jackson got on the box tonight, in our Masters Night omnium. 3rd in first race, nothing in second race, and managed to win final race to get 2nd overall in omnium. And a hotdog to celebrate! Short races played into my lack of genuine bike fitness, and kept me competitive. #dadwatts
... buddy, you don't wanna see this then ... Schiff just teeing this up, embracing that AI slop.
Followed that up with our fantastic “Hour of Power” workout on the track this morning … … and now my legs are sufficiently useless. I’ve spent WAY more time in the gym than on my bikes, for months now. A swap I never saw coming. Bikes are dumb. Long live bikes.
Destroyed myself in the gym Thursday, pushing lots of plates around on Leg Day®️, and rode the road bike for the first time in about month yesterday.
Alcohol evaporates nicely, so I often use tiny spray bottle and “soak” the segment and slugs as I clean them. TINY drops of sewing machine oil get type bars moving smoothly, if needed. Clean type slugs make things SO much more readable.
I wish that I could’ve helped my father find a desire for sobriety sooner. His final days were sober, but it came out of necessity, and too late. He was told to quit, by his doctor, and he listened - I got to at least tell him I was proud of him, and offered my experience, if he wanted to talk.
For the past 12yrs, I’ve been building this “tree of life,” in 24hr chunks, “one day at a time.” AA isn’t for everyone, but it saved me. I haven’t been to more than a handful of meetings since COVID killed my home group. I still put my nose in the Big Book when I need it. It helps me.
The emotional/psychological hangover is going to last almost as long as the damage done by this fucking nightmare of a “president” and his ghoulish administration.
Tried to do the thing. Wasn’t all that successful, but the sunset was worth it.
When the trials open at the Hague, they need to replay these words again and again.
Stolen from IG, but @myvoicemychoice.bsky.social is also here … I’m angry. Are you? Where are the arrests, here in the US. The UK arrested a member of the Royal Family!
