Sign stealing is one of the oldest tricks in baseball, but teams today are using technology to find any competitive edge that exists.

According to Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci, electronic surveillance is a growing trend around the league, with "many" teams using up to six "high magnification cameras" in their home ballpark specifically for stealing opposing teams's signs.

In Los Angeles, the Dodgers' video room three years ago played host to starter Zack Greinke watching for weaknesses in opposing hitters. This season, the set up has a much different objective.

This year, if you walked into the same room you would have found a small army of 20-something analysts in polo shirts and slacks pouring over video from the in-house cameras, like the security room at a Vegas casino. Most teams train their cameras on the catcher, the pitcher (from several angles), the third base coach and the dugout.

These cameras are not used for training purposes. They are used expressly for stealing signs and deciphering “tells” from pitchers.

"We’ve reached a point,” said one club executive, “where the attractiveness of the sport as an entertainment option has been lost in the quest to find every incremental edge. And video has changed things rapidly. I’m increasingly thinking something has to be done."

I think you're partially joking, but people be buying high end stuff of facebook. Both of these were custom orders I got from marketplace. 6ft epoxy desk and live edge elm coffee table. I never knew, blew my mind when I found out and so I tried it and so far, people are buying them.

Sorry i noped out right here. It does none of these things well, at all, and especially not as good as a human. Moreover, study after study has shown that people that do rely on AI to do such tasks actually get dumber, waste more time fixing its errors, and take longer to complete said tasks.

There are gobs of money to be made selling enterprise software, but dulling the impact of AI is also a useful feint. This is a technology that can digest a hundred reports before you’ve finished your coffee, draft and analyze documents faster than teams of paralegals, compose music indistinguishable from the genius of a pop star or a Juilliard grad, code—really code, not just copy-paste from Stack Overflow—with the precision of a top engineer. Tasks that once required skill, judgment, and years of training are now being executed, relentlessly and indifferently, by software that learns as it goes.

This Rosewood is practically all the orders I get for lazy susans on Etsy. So I end up with a lot of scrap. Being able to re use the scrap helps climate wasted wood, even if it would eventually biodegrade in nature.
