@birchduck
Queer women's hockey (and other women's sports) fan. Looks at birds. Located in a cornfield IL
It was hard to pick, but this one came to hand. No idea where I got it or what it is, but I love it It may have been licked
This guy. My sister at least once threw a fit when we were trying to look at the rest of the museum "not good enough, not big enough! Want Hammering Man!" (Image from new.artsmia.org/stories/once... )
"Your last saved celebrity pic is your therapist." I don't have celebrities, but I do have these two 🥰🥰🥰 I think we could talk parenting and it would be a lot less weird than talking kids with my actual shrink (trainee with a 6 month one and yeah that explains a lot buddy lol)
I live in a small town with a good fireworks show. It's about 2 miles from my house. The neighbors set off some about a block away. This is what my aqi looked like last year. Yeah, stay inside
It is officially Stupid Hot But I went and saw some birds this morning before it was quite so terrible, so that's all good. And I have a new migraine med for the first time since um before 2020 at least 🤞
Satellite map looks like what it looked like on the water. We've done paddles that even satellite looks like we've been canoeing across green fields
I love canoeing the back waters (or disconnected lakes) of the Illinois. Yes it's beautiful but also you get ridiculous maps like this
I catch them often on the cam, and they look more like this. There's variety, but I haven't seen so pale all over. But this is a single small site and I put up the camera to catch the woodcock I was 99% sure was there and am having fun with
Old school gif quality, but I loved watching the baby's little open mouth tracking the adult. Given how far they were poking out of the nest hole, I imagine fledging isn't too far in the future, though the adults were not hesitating to feed it
Somewhat farther away, this tree swallow was being fed by several adults #birds
So many babies today! This red-winged blackbird and its sibling were hopping around *just starving* along the roadside #birds
The weather and circumstances finally lined up and we got the canoe in the water for the first time. I found my gloves as soon as we got home but I managed to not get blisters. I forgot to take pictures of us on the boat...
You ever feel like there's 2 people birding in your immediate vicinity, and one of them is getting older and you've been out of state for a week? It's going to be hot and humid all week too 🥵
Yes I grew up in a swamp* I've been back in Illinois for an hour and I'm ready to go back *More adjacent, and bog.
On a scale of 😬 to 💀 how bad do we feel about this? It's more of a circuit glider at this point (it doesn't appear to be on even in the on position)
Sometimes birding is weird I love bluejays but not that much It's really eerie watching them just silently fly over in such large numbers
Warblur season! 🪶 This is the best blue winged warbler pic I've ever taken, and he was bopping around me for a long time (mostly behind leaves because warbler) singing 🥰🥰🥰
You guys*! I saw a stripey football! A mile away from my house! With noisy deconstruction going on really close by the other fork of the trail! 🪶 🥧 *Gals and nonbinary pals etc inclusive
Make a great spot a hotspot, but live at the unfashionable end of the county 99% competing with myself...
#TenMinMerlin was more like 7 minutes today, but we've got the usual suspects.
