Straight out of Jabba's Palace, the incredible Three-wattled Bellbird, proclaiming its territory in the cloud forest of Monte Verde, Costa Rica. Simply awesome!
Mammals outdoing the birds in Costa Rica so far, with this Tamandua -a species of anteater- approaching very closely near Arenal. Gorgeous!
Well that was a hot weekend at #GlobalBirdfair! Great to make new friends, catch up with old mates, and talk about Yorkshire wildlife and birding all weekend, representing @yorkscoastnature.bsky.social. Many laughs, inspiration, beers and football!

Been checking Acaster Church Ings regularly for months now, so great to find two migrant Ringed Plovers this evening alongside the regular Little Rings. Nothing at Acaster Airfield this evening sadly. @yorkbirding.bsky.social
Skylark singing in the evening sunshine. They don't always live up to their name!
Two visits to Acaster Airfield flash today, revealed one Little Ringed Plover and not much else. Got quite the soaking on the way back. @yorkbirding.bsky.social

It's not often I go out specifically looking for a bird, and it pays off, but finding this Sanderling on a small flash at Acaster, nr York, was one such occasion. @yorkbirding.bsky.social
Led an enjoyable trip with @yorkbirding.bsky.social to Spurn and North Cave Wetlands today. Highlights: Black Brant, Greenland Wheatear, lots of Whimbrel, Med Gulls, and a sleepy Tawny Owl. Also, a possible female Blue-headed Wag at Sammy's Point.
Four noisy, northbound Whimbrel flew around North Cave Wetlands this afternoon before landing for a bath and a rest. @northcavebirds.bsky.social
Red-footed Falcon hunting Mayflies over the Derwent at North Duffield Carrs this afternoon. Note the Hobby in the background. @ldvnnr.bsky.social @yorkbirding.bsky.social
Swift-fight update, calm is restored with the intruder kicked out at some point. Pair on the nest with one constantly preening the other. Much mess from the struggle on the floor of the box.
Traumatic scenes in the box, with a third Swift entering at 7.30pm and an almighty fight taking place. Tw9 birds still locked in what could be a fatal fight at 11.30pm. Pretty hard to watch.
First-summer male Red-footed Falcon at North Duffield Carrs @ldvnnr.bsky.social a nice local find by Chris Gomersall this afternoon. @yorkbirding.bsky.social
