the swans are big and slow and tame enough that i even took some film portraits of them
i thought these misty shots from a christmas bird count in a eucalyptus forest in coastal california turned out really nicely (kodacolor 100, d/s by f.s. photo)
ending on another species that is very special to me personally: a saltmarsh sparrow (banded and handled with the proper permits). these are endangered and will likely be gone by midcentury

2025 BIRD PHOTOS THREAD! i don't post them on here much, but i took some images this year i'm really proud of. got rained on, snowed on, bug-bitten; lay on the ground and sank knee-deep in mud. i love birds and i'll do it all again next year starting with an american barn owl, my favorite bird!
