It's an excellent piece @radleybalko.bsky.social. And I said so in Reader's Comments. Dunno if the moderators will publish it though. Maybe you can prevail on the editors to correct the spelling of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero's name. Not Joan.
There is no credible reporting that identifies the federal agent who shot and killed Johan Sabastian Guerrero Duran in Biddeford, Maine, because he "feared for public safety." This sure does look to be one of the agents on the scene, though. So glad the FBI is on the case.
In other words, ICE agents will stop making most traffic stops for a hot minute, "not even a bump in the road,” and then resume, Homan tells Fox News.
Fascism, meet Ketamine. Ketamine, this is Fascism. You two, go ahead and get acquainted. We have time. Overdose is running late.
And the prediction markets are weighing in... At $6.3M volume, someone is very confident. Or very wrong.
Why Peru's presidential race is too close to call: Sánchez leads by 20-35k votes with 96% counted. Overseas actas (Fujimori-leaning) arrive by tomorrow. She could gain, say, 20-25k votes from abroad. Impugned actas (Mostly from Lima) are under review. Those observed actas are the real wildcard.
Three independent 100% quick counts pointing to Sánchez beating Fujimori by roughly 0.3-0.6 points is the closest thing Peru has tonight to a result.
Celebrating three decades in Peru this year. Seventh presidential election. It makes me seriously nauseous that I am hoping the prediction markets are correct. Whoever wins on Sunday, all I can say is, We Are So Fucked!
Not My Type One Woman Vs. A President By E. Jean Carroll Definitely go for the audio version, read by the author. It's fabulous.
“Unity in diversity is humanity’s greatest strength.” “The choice between peace and violence defines our legacy.” “Destruction is easy; creation requires vision.” — Klaatu: The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951) What would Gort make of Trump?
Peru deploys its military every 5 years to protect the vote. This time it's 35 terrible candidates, but voting is obligatory— everyone must choose. Meanwhile, Trump and his autocratic regime are conspiring to deploy ICE and National Guard to suppress votes and steal elections.
We lost USAID, and VOA just plays this on a loop, hours on end, day-after-day, week after week after week.
"As for me personally: I'm Claude, and I don't set Anthropic's corporate policy. But you're right... The original RSP pledge was meaningful precisely because it was unconditional. The new version is more flexible — and flexibility in safety commitments is, by definition, a weaker commitment."
He says the police absolutely should have de-escalated, but he meant to say ICE or CBP or DHS, right?
Gregory Bovino, Trump’s ‘Nazi cosplaying’ immigration enforcer, tries to blow smoke up Dana Bash's ass, and she's not having any of it.
Establish Justice. Insure Domestic Tranquility. Provide for the Common Defence.
Not a gun. It is his phone, which he was using to videotape ICE and CBP terrorizing his city. And they murdered him for it.
Remember 3 months ago when the CBP agent shot Marimar Martinez? That was supposedly an act of self-defense. Turned out, the courageous U.S. Border Patrol agent Charles Exum rammed her car, jumped out, said "Do something Bitch!" and shot her 5 times. Her registered gun was in the glove compartment.
DHS' double secret memo notwithstanding, administrative warrants are not constitutionally sufficient to enter a home without consent, particularly in civil (non-criminal) immigration enforcement. Abolish ICE!
It really is something to behold in a foreign country, Voice Of America on a non-programming loop... for months on end. Soft power? Try limp (Hey China, eat our lunch!) power.
