A special (collections) morning! ✨📜 We had a great time hosting some English UNIQ students today and talking to them about all things @bodleian.ox.ac.uk! We even got to call up some of our wonderful special collections to showcase, including our lovely first edition Pride and Prejudice!

We won gold!🏅🌱 Recently, a cross-departmental team from the Schwarzman Centre won a gold award at Oxford University's Green Impact Awards! This recognises an effort to ensure that the environmental policies and practices in the building align with the sustainability of its Passivhaus construction!

🚨Another New Trial Database Alert!🚨 This time it's for the Classic Sermon Index, and our trial period runs from 11th May - 10th June 2026. For more information, see this poster below! Any feedback is always appreciated 😊

A poster for our Classic Sermon Index database trial. It says: "The Classic Sermon Index catalogues over 40,000 sermons, published or translated into English. It includes Augustine, John Calvin, Richard Baxter, John Donne, Jonathan Edwards, Samuel Johnson, Martin Luther, John Henry Newman, John and Charles Wesley, Catherine Booth, Alexander Campbell, B. B. Warfield, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Karl Barth, Martin Luther King, Jr., etc. and sermons by the heads of the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Dublin, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown, etc. Many sermons are from historically significant public executions, funerals, and coronations, such as spoken sermons from the funerals of George Washington and King George III. Many topical sermons about duelling, slavery, the Boston Tea Party, and other period specific issues are also indexed. Each sermon is catalogued according to its principal text (e.g., John 3:16), author, book title, and page number within the book that contains it. It also indexes the sermons from Readex’s Early American Imprint series. Roughly 75% of the citations link to full-text. Trial Period: 11th May – 10th June 2026. 🚨New Database Trial Alert!🚨 From today until 5th June 2026, we're trialling a new online database of critical editions of the New Testament. For further details, please see the poster below; for access, please follow this link: tinyurl.com/2s44rxwh Any feedback is very welcome!

A poster which outlines the details of a trial for an online database of critical editions of the New Testament. It's main section says: "This collection, earlier published in a microfiche collection by IDC Publishers, makes available the principal critical editions of the New Testament for the first time in a single collection online, including lists of variant readings and collections of manuscript transcriptions and collations from the late seventeenth to the early twentieth century. In addition, a number of the most useful editions of the ancient versions and of ancillary materials have been included. This series begins with the first extensive apparatus criticus, that compiled by John Mill and published in 1707, and ends with von Soden’s huge work of 1902-13."
