Another typo from the booklet "Many A Slip" which was produced for the NOC and sold for 75p in 1980, with proceeds going to the League of Friends of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. It should say "seated exercises" but given our current heatwave is spot on! @ouhospitals.bsky.social @medsci.ox.ac.uk

Feeling the heat? Want somewhere cooler to work or study? The BHCLs can help! There's air con in 3 of our libraries. The NOC Library & Old Road Campus Library are generally the most comfortable hospital libraries in hot weather, with some cooler spots also available in the Cairns Library at the JR.

Here's a couple of old photos of The Horton General Hospital in Banbury. The hospital was built with money left by Mary Ann Horton, a local heiress, and had only two wards and a total of 12 beds when it opened as Horton Infirmary in 1872. @ouhospitals.bsky.social @medsci.ox.ac.uk

Today we honour Louisa Martindale, a GP and later consultant surgeon who helped to set up the New Sussex Hospital for Women. Dr Martindale advocated for women’s rights and equal opportunities and lived with her partner Ismay FitzGerald for more than 30 years. Find out more: buff.ly/l8BbVHX
