#CroftNews Babies on the croft. The wee one I reanimated after it fell off the nest and survived 2 days now. Starting to feed on crumbs. #ScotsGrey are really amazing and resilient. They kept the T-rex in them.

Today I reanimated a newborn chick. We managed to get the hen, the couple of chicks hatched and the remaining eggs in a brooding pen. The great ravens that recently killed c. 15 chicks and ducklings will be pissed off. Hard to keep the beasties alive in the "wild". But we learn...

I am quite proud of these grains growing. All ancient corns, some from Scandinavia. Black oats and bere barley interplanted with some cornflower. Definitely the most challenging crop I have tried... And failed many times

We work towards improving the diversity and density of wild flowers in the grazing of our croft. This is our reward, I found 10s of orchids in this part while topping. Avoided them to give them a nudge. In 4 years of management, the results are astonishing starting from only a couple of plants.

Grassland management+ growing a forest are not in opposition. We have considerably increased the density of wild flowers on our croft in 4 years of taking care of it. These grow in clearings between the trees.

That was the selling point...

The day after, I followed another workshop on passive seismics which was great but more like a session. It was ok but because it wasn't room but a hall separated by curtains we had to wear headsets. Each "room" was the same.

🧵After much thought, I raised funds thanks to CVA, and I went to EAGE as I was invited to the open-source workshop by @kwinkunks.bsky.social. we were hidden in a hall on a Sunday morning. And I was glad to exchange with great minds from all over the world.

Don't know if of any use but when I discovered that some friends from our very rural corner of Scotland didn't know how to grow potatoes for cheap in a garden corner. Here is what I do with brown cardboard and last year grass cuttings. Cardboard + 25-cm-spaced double row of tatties + 20cm of grass

You have to admit that some pollution is useful. I am progressively building an agricultural netted tunnel thanks to what I find on the shore, salmon farm feeder pipes... It helps grow things that would get burned by the wind and the spray.

Just back from a seismic campaign I organised and led for a government agency in the Republic of Djibouti (SCA) with CVA and the support of Sorbonne university, university of Djibouti, MERN and ED. We shot seismics using Stryde and GEODE systems. Did some TDEM, Tromino and passive recording.

Here is the first page. Wars on food, water and starvation are luckily moderate... for the ecosystem, not us which means the poorest are already direly affected
