An illustrated protest poster done by Phoebe Wahl. A family of Hispanic immigrants are surrounded by tall, bright flowers that go above their heads. The mother, dressed in an orange shirt and green pants, is on her knees hugging her little girl, who is dressed in a yellow dress with little flowers. The father, dressed in an orange plaid shirt and jeans, is standing and lifting a little baby in a yellow polka dot onesie into the air. They are free, and safe. At the top, orange text reads "No More Detention". At the bottom, orange text reads, "No More Deportations, Abolish ICE".

"The Annunciation", a Renaissance fresco done by Fra Angelico in the early 1440's. Blonde Mary, clothed in royal blue, crosses her arms in humility. What always strikes me about this fresco is the angel Gabriel - dressed in pink, with multicolored wings to emphasize his other-wordliness and Heavenly origin - is actually genuflecting in respect and submission *towards* Mary. Their heads are close, as if in urgent conversation.

URGENT: There is currently a huge chemical/polymer fire happening in Parkersburg, WV (a city of 30,000 people), and a state of emergency has been declared. Residents are reporting medical symptoms and black particles falling all over the area. I have literally seen nobody outside of WV mention this.

A photo from July 5, 2026 (although the fire is still burning as of July 6). A massive warehouse filled with rubber, polymers, and resin is entirely in flames. An almost staggeringly enormous plume of thick, dark black smoke and ash rise against the backdrop of the lovely, green mountains of Parkersburg, WV.

Jackson's concurrence is beautifully and powerfully written

From Justice Jackson's concurring opinion in Trump v. Barbara: "So the principal dissent is wrong to complain that the Court “has repurposed the Fourteenth Amendment to protect . . . rights that the Reconstruction Congress never contemplated.” See post, at 91. Delegates to the Colored Conventions drew upon their own experiences to successfully argue for a new Constitution—one that protected fundamental human rights, including an individual’s “‘right to
own his body and mind’” and “the right of personal security
and protection against injuries to our bodies or good
name.”56 Thus, even in cases where the protagonist was not
a Black American, this Court’s Fourteenth Amendment
cases have focused, at bottom, on the same universal liberty
and equality interests that motivated the Fourteenth
Amendment itself. The question is (and always has been):
Does the affected individual or group enjoy equal dignity?
And the correct answer is (and has always been) to heed the
Fourteenth Amendment’s universalist, antisubordination
command. Our Nation did not undergo something as profound and world-shifting as “Reconstruction” for naught."

He hated pretty much any cover art that was silly or too surreal - he actually said that these covers by Barbara Remington made him feel like he was "shut up in a madhouse", which is just deleriously funny

A series of three covers done by Barbara Remington for the Fellowship of the Ring, the Two Towers, and Return of the King, respectively. They all have loud, bold colors with pinks and reds, and many fantastical creatures that dont appear in the book.

God I fucking love Golden Age comics look at that noodle anatomy

A series of three panels from "Introducing Wonder Woman" (1942). In the first panel, a man in a green car chasing Wonder woman exclaims as she runs 30, 50 miles an hour. In the final panel, H.G Peter has drawn what I can only describe as an antelope wearing the form of a woman. Wonder Woman's legs are fiendishly, comically long and her torso is similarly long and tiny, with her head and neck attached further back on the shoulders than any head and neck have a right to be. It is glorious and I love it.

anyways if you’re actually interested in the genuine political makeup of red states and rural areas and the thriving resistance efforts people are running there, you should look into the current activism being done in the Everglades!! It’s really incredible!!

There’s a photo of people protesting along the main corridor through the Everglades in Florida in opposition to the immigration concentration camp, “Alligator Alcatraz”, which the Trump administration is planning to build. In the photo, people are holding up various handmade signs against the camp. Most are wearing hats to protect from the rain, and they seem to be from across all ages. Below the photo, there’s an excerpt from an article originally from Associated Press that reads “A coalition of groups, ranging from environmental activists to Native Americans advocating for their ancestral homelands, converged outside an airstrip in the Florida Everglades Saturday to protest the imminent construction of an immigrant detention center”
