Gimme a min I’m new here. This year is 51. Pretty sure I peaked early. Chronically kaput. Lego. Crochet a bit. Lots of plants. Sew a bit. Read a bit. I mom and wife and try to advocate.
I didn’t grow this, but it was from the local farmers market. It sounded like feasting vampires as I ate it. Come to think of it, vampires are probably more discreet in their slurping.
Sorry, green friend. Major neglect on my part. Please do try to enjoy your bigger pot and new soil.
Some days it is harder than others to extract joy from the current state of things. Signs of spring are helping immensely. #bloomscrolling
Didn’t realize when I scheduled it that my first colonoscopy would be the same day as the state of the union address. Tomorrow will be shitty on at least two fronts.
Avoid the news for twelve+ hours starter kit. No pattern, just a wonky hat based on vibes (I guess). 🧶🎮
This scratches an itch. I know I’m not the only Lego user who gets great pleasure Knolling and to those others I say Merry Knolling to you and a Happy New Year too.
December is not my favorite. One thing that seems to bring some light to my grinchy soul each year however is my Lego village. MY village. Not my kids’, not my husband’s, MINE. And I’m not shy about it and permission is required to get near it.
My fishbone cactus bloomed for the first time! The bud it sprang from was very funky looking but I didn’t get a picture of that stage.
Sitting here breathing in the trees and mid morning sun. A squirrel is on a branch several meters away just absolutely going OFF. I feel you, squirrel. I see you, hear you and feel you.
A dear friend gave me this cute lil hanging pot fella. Prob wouldn’t be great for a live plant so I’m crocheting one of yarn instead. Need to add a few more on top, I think. 🧶
It’s that time of year. Happy Bday to my better half. (Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake from Smitten Kitchen)
This cake is from Smitten Kitchen. I believe it’s just called “Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake”. This is the 14th year I’ve made it for my husband’s birthday. If you make it, you will not regret it.
Spent a few days at the coast *almost* running away from current events. Manzanita, OR, USA
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Thank you nature for giving respite to my addled brain.
Last night at a dream come true event for my youngest (MCR concert), my oldest took off his shoes for the whole show so my youngest could stand on them and have another inch or two of height to see better. My mama heart nearly exploded.
Sometimes the light hits your cereal just right and for a second you forget about your country descending further into chaos and darkness. For a second.
This crazy thing (Solanum Pyracanthum) is blooming. It’s an experiment to see if squirrels will leave the other flowering things in the pot alone with thorns in there. I’m guessing it doesn’t phase them at all.
This is the way I try to unplug my brain unplug my brain unplug my brain, this is the way I try to unplug my brain so early in the afternoon.
