Kennedy visited Samoa in June, appearing alongside local anti-vaccine advocates and even a staff member of the US embassy. In November, Kennedy’s organization sent a letter to the Samoan prime minister, encouraging officials to question the MMR vaccine. Kennedy peddles the false and dangerous claim that vaccines are linked to autism, despite the fact that numerous scientific studies have robustly debunked the baseless claim.

it will result in massive undervaccination, and then devastating disease outbreaks and tragedy. the childhood disease burden and medical costs to society will be terrible, as well. we have already shown how we benefit from EXPANDING access to vaccines with the Vaccines for Children program (VFC).

Between 1994-2023, VFC has: prevented 508M illnesses; avoided 1.13M deaths; saved almost $2.7TRILLION in total societal costs (more than $8000 for each American!).

After the pandemic began, $29.2 billion (92%) of US public funds went toward buying 2 billion advance vaccine doses, $2.3 billion (7%) was spent on clinical trials, and $108 million (less than 1%) was directed to manufacturing and basic and translational science.

My young adult daughter has a colony of peppered roaches that she is hoping to breed. One by one, they are maturing and molting and turning into adults, and as they do they are acquiring names. I got to name this female, and her name is Queenie. She is beautiful.

She is sitting on a person's thumb and is quite a lot bigger than the thumb. Her body is broad and darkly hued with texture on her outer shell. The tips of her wings are showing on each side. Near her head, she has a pale shield-like structure with a beautiful pattern of dark and light on it. Her little dark head and eyes and long antenna are peeking out from under this structure. A couple of her legs show, and they are spiky in appearance and dark. This is an attractive cockroach, and she looks nothing like the pests that you may dread finding in your kitchen.

Good to remember the pattern of the Republican party excusing and enabling -- and even rewarding -- reprehensible abuses of minor children.

Rose’s marriage is positively quaint compared to other Republican stories. There’s Donald Trump’s reported habit of walking in on teenage models in their dressing rooms and numerous allegations accusing him of sexual assault; or former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (the longest-serving Republican speaker in history) admitting to molesting children; or the six different former high school wrestlers who allege that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) knew the team doctor was sexually abusing students and did nothing; or virtually the whole Republican Party standing behind Roy Moore when he was running for Senate in Alabama and accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl many years previously.

Sterilization in US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE’s) Detention: Ethical Failures and Systemic Injustice Read here: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

We examine these allegations as a case study highlighting how the US immigration detention system violates core tenets of medical ethics. We argue that, in the context of long-standing systemic racial biases in our medical system and a baseline mistrust of that medical system on the part of historically oppressed populations, these harms are dangerously amplified. These abuses contribute to a chilling effect that prevents vulnerable patients from seeking care; this compromises the health of everyone, particularly in the era of COVID.

The district also said any students who missed class or were late would be counted as absent or tardy.

“Our students are exercising their right under the First Amendment, and their parents have been notified. No absence will be excused,” the district wrote on X.
