Some places change when you go back to them. Brackenlowe does not. The lamp is still lit. The platform is still quiet. The woods are still waiting beyond the line. And the stories are just where you left them.
Brackenlowe Halt is the place that does not change: a half-remembered railway refuge preserved through the Signalman’s journals, where ordinary things are kept faithfully, the stories remain gentle, and visitors may return to the quiet exactly as they left it.
The train is waiting at the platform. Ready to jump aboard? readingroom.brackenlowehalt.co.uk
The Brackenlowe Story World - it's not officially open yet, but our Bluesky friends are welcome to take an early peek. Mind your step though, the builders are still fitting it out! 😊 Some rooms are still a little sparse but we are adding to it daily. readingroom.brackenlowehalt.co.uk/welcome
Brackenlowe is not just for children. Tired parents need some wind-down time too. The signalman likes nothing more than for you to pull up a chair as he tells his tales of his life on the railways and the woodland animals who brought him so much joy.
Watch for your invite to travel to Brackenlowe Halt, a place where nothing much happens. And even when it does, it happens gently. A place to visit when the world gets too noisy.
More experimenting . . . . and a big Thank you to Tina for all her efforts! 🙏
The tracks bend away and disappear into Brackenlowe Woods and then onto the coast.
The beautiful Saffron. If the signalman ever had a favorite, it was Saffron. Her head always telling her to rush ahead, her heart making her hold back for her friends.
A Legacy Project. The Signalman talks about his hopes for the future . . . . #brackenlowehalt #booksky #Kidlit #kidlitart #childrensbooks #books
Brackenlowe Halt was built from a simple belief: that children and grown-ups alike need a quiet place to return to. A place where small things matter. Where kindness is not weakness. Where stories are gentle, the world is coherent, and the lamp is always kept burning. #booksky #KidLitArt
Still working on the 'Reading Room' - A library ready to be filled with tales of the animals of Brackenlowe Halt. Only "The Signakman's Last Note" is available to read while we fill the bookshelf, but please feel free to take a look 😊 readingroom.brackenlowehalt.co.uk #booksky #kidlitart
The Brackenlowe Halt Reading Room will soon be open to the public. Unfortunately, as the trains no longer run to Brackenlowe Halt, we have arranged Hackney Carriages to transport you to, and from the Reading Room for your comfort and pleasure. #brackenlowehalt #booksky #childrensbooks
Building and testing the website today. I say website, it's victorian-style reading room full of Brackenlowe stories (yet to be witten!)
They say they were lost for over 150 years. Now they've been found and restored.
