Oil prices up nearly 20% in the past 2 weeks, Brent crude over $90/bbl. Diesel is seeing the worst effects which will impact all manner of transportation, especially trucking & airlines. The economic reserves are disappearing. Iran will keep this up until Trump is out of office. What fun!
2nd qtr growth slowed as consumers, inflation, & policy shaped the outlook. Real GDP expanded at a 1.5% annual rate in the 2nd qtr, down from 2.1% in the 1st qtr & below forecasts (~1.8%–2.1%). Reduced gov spending, weaker inventory accumulation, & widening trade deficit restrained growth.

The military buildup across Europe and the Middle East involves massive repositionings of U.S. and allied air assets, prominently monitored via flight-tracking tools like Flightradar24 showing surges of KC-135 aerial refueling tankers, C-17 transport planes, and fighter wings (F-35s, F-16s).
Brent hits $91/bbl, highest since June. Yemen's Houthi militants threatened to block Saudi maritime traffic in the Red Sea, prompting a Saudi crude tanker to reverse course. Attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal on Russia's Black Sea coast also disrupted exports from Kazakhstan.
Oil prices have increased 23.4% over the past 12 days, with yesterday's price jump being the highest one day jump in 6 years. Europe and Middle East countries must come to the table to work with Iran on resolving this issue and somehow have Iran join the international community.
One man is accelerating death and destruction across the globe. Global Economy, Hit by Iran War and Inflation, Faces Sharp Slowdown The I.M.F. projected world output growth would fall to 3 percent for the year, a number pushed down by high commodity prices. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/08/b...
Looks like things are heating up in the Mideast again... Ships being hit with projectiles, US withdrawing Iran's license to sell oil. Not great. Oil prices bouncing up once more. Up to $76/barrel from $70/barrel on July 2, 2026, a mere five days ago.

According to this chart we should be or are likely in a recession.
Some government.... of the people, by the people and for the people... now it's screw the people...
Amazing jobs report. All growth has been in health care and social assistance (public services). Implication is reduced risk of a recession and an increased likelihood of a Fed tightening to combat inflation.

From Gavin Mooney: "Just one year ago, peaking gas was still doing much of the heavy lifting during Australia's evening peak. Today, that is no longer the case. The chart below compares average daily dispatch profiles across Australia's main grid (the NEM) in April 2025 and April 2026."

What Berlin looked like when Germany capitulated and surrendered in 1945. We have a long way to go if we decide to force Iran to surrender as a result of military action. Perhaps a million soldiers and three years minimum. $1 trillion and easily 10,000 soldiers' lives lost.
Not looking good. Brent crude pricing is up nearly 40% in the past 2 weeks, climbing to nearly $120/barrel today, the highest price since hitting $120.40 in 2022 or 2008 when the price of Brent crude peaked at about hit $147/barrel.
Oil prices have increased 30% in the past 2 weeks. Brent crude. This trend is not our friend.
Definitely correlation in the Virginia results with population density.
