a friend recently screened for us BLACK LIZARD (1968) and my god, the second Akihiro Miwa is on screen, you instantly understand why she was so iconic. RIP to this legend.

Thinking enemy and boss designs in games like Sekiro, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Onimusha, and I wish more European fantasy embraced the weirdness of early depictions of demons, animals, and folklore creatures. Give more monsters that look like marginalia or work by artists like Dürer!

Undiagnosed ADHD and Perimenopause: When Symptoms Finally Surface
Perimenopause can unmask ADHD traits that were previously kept in check by structure, support, or sheer effort.

For some women, this is the first time their struggles feel too overwhelming. This is why ADHD is sometimes diagnosed during perimenopause or menopause.

Do your ADHD symptoms feel harder to manage with each passing day? You might find that coping strategies that once worked no longer do. Your focus fades quickly, brain fog clouds your thinking, and managing time feels almost impossible.

These changes aren’t random. Many women report that inattention, disorganization, and memory issues worsen during perimenopause and menopause.[1][2]

Research also shows that women with ADHD often experience more intense perimenopause symptoms. On top of that, perimenopause may begin earlier in women with ADHD.[3]

The overlap between ADHD and perimenopause symptoms is linked to changes in hormone levels. These hormones play key roles in regulating chemical messengers in the brain.

Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause. Menopause is reached when a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. For women with ADHD, these transitions often come with unique challenges.

Women with ADHD may have more severe symptoms of perimenopause than those without ADHD. Research also shows that the difference in symptom severity peaks between ages 35 and 39. This suggests that perimenopause symptoms may begin up to 10 years earlier for women with ADHD.[3]

At the same time, this transitional stage often overlaps with the worsening of ADHD symptoms. Studies have found that many women report the most impairing ADHD symptoms between the ages of 35 and 44.[3]

That said, menopause itself does not cause ADHD. ADHD begins in childhood, so it does not suddenly appear during midlife. However, shifting hormone levels can intensify existing ADHD symptoms.[4]

It's funny because I found just that while I was looking at SFF section of my local used book shop in some Barbara Hambly books. This tracks tho with the 80s Satanic panic toward fantasy. It's just interesting to see since CWs are considered a more recent thing, especially in books

it's been 7 years since Sekiro's release and while I only played the game for the first time a not so long ago, using this anniversary as an excuse to finish a piece of my favorite moment in the game ߹𖥦߹
