Kansas to Belgium with stops along the way. More likely to reply/like than skeet, since most of you say it better/funnier than I can. True blue, both politics and baseball. I confess to being earnest - I think it's important.
I just saw this and thought of you. I hope you have a peaceful Sunday evening, and that the week to come will be kind to you. 🩷
Our town also does hanging baskets which are lovely. The last few years they have also hung flower garlands across the streets (not real flowers, they wouldn't last!) which are nice as well. This photo (from the paper) was taken during the sidewalk sale, so there's of people!
This may seem silly, but it made me smile. We visited a Swiss village and they were offering this painting course 'following the Bob Ross method.' It made me happy that his legacy of happy little trees lives on. 💚
This shed was sitting beside a garden in Lucerne, Switzerland. Cool tower along the ramparts beside it.
This is serendipitous - I only took this a few hours ago! Swanning around on Lake Lucerne. #ButtShotts
Reminds me of this bracelet my niece's friend made for her to wear when she visited DC.
For the church-going among you, or for those of you who pop into one when on vacation, some photos from the Franciscan Church in Lucerne, Switzerland. 'Info' in alt-text.
Just finished actually, and enjoyed it very much. How nature was the catalyst for a man suffering from depression to seek healing.
It was a short but unique ride! You stay in the car, and most of it is through a tunnel, which of course is why it's so much quicker than driving up twisty mountain roads. Here's a little film as we came out of the tunnel.
I cannot bring myself to use this word. When speaking Dutch, I still say 'baseball'. Honkball is just too ridiculous.
Ah, the friends we've made along the way. They really do wear bells, it's not just an outdated stereotype. It's the most lovely sound, and you hear it constantly as you're walking in the mountains. Or, as now, relaxing outside with a glass of wine. 🇨🇭 More cowbell!
I think she looks pretty badass here (if I'm allowed to say that about a Catholic saint. Am I in schism now?)
As you may have guessed, most of the 'things my husband sends me' lately are about a topic dear to his Belgian heart. Here are two.
So proud of my adopted country today for cocking a snoot at both a corrupt organization and a corrupt president. Wie gaat je nu bellen, Donald?
I love 20th century history, and that was my minor. Have gotten more and more interested in the Medieval period, also mostly due to historical novels or good documentary series. (Congrats on proving your parents wrong! Yes, I know there's no proof for this salute but what a great story it is!)
We'll be heading to Luzerne next week, so I'm looking forward to that. Now we're in the alps for a few days, at Saas-Grund. No bears here, I hope! 😉
Sounds like a less than ideal childhood, but you've created a rich inner life. Happiness is the art of being content in your own company. 🩷
For fans of the miniature, here are some alpine flowers that amaze with their tenacity. This is well above the tree line, and it seems impossible that they could thrive here. Yet they persist.
