The humpbacks were too far offshore to be seen this afternoon. On the plus side the nephew is much more proficient with binoculars. Lost his mind at seeing a pair of White Bellied Sea Eagles through them.
That’s where I’m going wrong? All jokes aside I am the wrong shape and size for them, enjoy on short trips and they’re awesome off road but they play havoc with my back and knees.
Koala outside the office as I left this afternoon. Great example of why they’re so hard to spot.
Took the nephew whale watching today. He wasn’t keen on joining them in the water though.
Went down for a spot of whale watching. Found a quiet little memorial.
Enjoying the winter sun in the back garden, a trio of Pelicans lazily circling around a thermal, climbing 100’s of feet a minute till reaching their desired height tilt and begin to glide southward. The resident brown snake popped its head out and spent a minute warming on the concrete beside me.
All comes down to what you’re used to, my next trip is in August. 1700k each way but I’m detouring to catch up with old friends so the trip North will be about 2100. This takes it from 2 to three days up and a quick 2 days back.

This orchid was a present for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary in 1985, hasn’t flowered for years.
Another silver lining, I've time and headspace to catch up on things. First is Adaptation, I watched this at the old GC arts center when it came out in 2002 and loved it. Only film other than Leaving Las Vegas that I've liked Nicholas Cage's work in.
