My sweet Lolita had to be put to rest 10 days ago. They say try not to do anything to disrupt their space for your other dog's benefit for 7-10 days. Honestly, I think for ours too.
I wish my Lolita was still with us so I could join. As a puppy, I had her bed on a little platform next to mine. That lasted a week. At 9 weeks old, she hopped into my bed and stayed there until cataracts 14 years later made it easier for her to stay in her own bed at night. But we had daytime naps.
I know exactly how she feels. I said goodbye to my heart and soul, my constant shadow, my alter ego last week and I am still periodically bursting into tears.
When my little Lolita slept, she dreamed of running. This is her in action. Is it any wonder why, when her little body started to fail her, running was her best dream?
3 steps to survival: 1. Grow your own produce. 2. If you eat meat, choose small farm, humanely harvested halal. 3. Vote like your life depends on it. Because it literally does.
It was a tough week. I said goodbye to my sweet companion, my alter ego, my partner in crime of 15.5 years. Sassy, determined, independent, loving, with more grace than anyone could imagine (every vet said so). Miss Congeniality of our neighborhood: no one was allowed to pass without a joyful wag.
If you don't use Facebook, here's the message I found important to share ... along with the beautiful music of Monrovia.
We are not your whussy pets. We are the feral descendants of big cats in the wild. Snuggled up in our crate with electrically-heated warming pad. #EverydayIsCaturday
It's 6:30. Our dinner is half an hour late. What is happening? What's wrong? Are we going to go hungry? Who can investigate? #CaturdayEve
Just a couple of big kitties napping after they eat. Sorry for the screen and reflections.
Saw this at the botanical gardens in Munich this week. Hoping even more comes out before I leave.
I trapped this cat last night. He got loose. From bookshelf to kitchen shelf (ever seen books cascading to the floor as a cat attempts to run up the shelves?) Making me seriously reconsider open shelving in the kitchen. Finally retrapped, making this a TTNR program.
She should meet James Bond and his golden eyes or Clyde, who lost his Bonny, on my deck for a long lost cousins reunion!
Something silly for a change, from the chihuahua overlords in my house: "The housekeepers are here and the vacuum monster has arrived so we are riding it out on our mama's lap because she has nothing better to do!"
Mine does the same! The chihuahuas who terrorize him don't buy it, even though they think they are hiding by just looking the other direction.
There is a bubble coming up out of this manhole cover and Clyde thinks it is his job to monitor it. In the rain. #CatFunday
