Looks like Epic is doubling down on "Verse is gonna be way better than Blueprints" when it comes to UE6

Hey Everyone. Our aim is to ship Early Access for UE6 by the end of 2027 and Blueprints will be supported in Early Access and the initial UE6 releases, but deprecated in the future.

Deprecation will mean a feature continues to be available without improvements, then is eventually removed. This timeline will be clearly communicated along with ways to migrate projects to Verse.

We recognize the value that Blueprints brought to UE4 and 5, but we strongly believe that Verse will become a more powerful and capable way to create game logic. We’ve already seen both experienced and new programmers create amazing things with Verse that would be challenging to do with Blueprints.

More details and conversations from us around this to come as UE6 Early Access approaches.

Hey Asha what’s driving those storage component prices? I don’t know, is it THE AI TECHNOLOGY YOU PREVIOUSLY IN CHARGE OF???

#3: We are in a hardware component crisis. When I joined as CEO in February, the price we paid for console storage components was over 2x as high as we paid last fall. These costs have since doubled again. And as we plan for the 2027 holiday season, we expect another significant increase, taking us over 5x the prices we paid only two years earlier. Memory costs have followed a broadly similar trajectory. While the entire industry is facing a components crisis, we believe we have been impacted more greatly than many of our peers due to the choices we made over the last half decade. We are currently unable to make as many consoles as players want to buy, and we need a new business model and partnerships for hardware as we remain committed to Helix

Was surprised to hear Ottilie "wasn't aware" of crediting conflicts at old Telltale, given what I've heard from devs over the years.

In conversations with various Telltale Games alumni over the years, we've heard repeatedly that executive leadership at the studio pressed developers to follow a repetitive formula for each of its games. Some developers have said that formula led to declining interest in its games.

"We didn't really follow that approach," Ottilie said when asked about the making of The Wolf Among Us 2. "We came at this from 'what's the best story we can tell here? How are we going to do that? What's that feel like?'" He said his approach as CEO was to choose the game's creative leadership and then "get out of their way."

"It's not my job to go into the room and second-guess how they want to tell a story," he said, adding that while he is giving feedback and offering suggestions, he avoids being prescriptivist in his approach. He did say that some Telltale design knowledge—like the amount of time players should go without pushing a button onscreen—is still with the studio, but The Wolf Among Us 2 won't be following a familiar roadmap.

On the topic of improper crediting, Ottilie actually said he "wasn't aware" of the company's history with that practice. "From our perspective, [proper crediting] is pretty mandated," he promised. "People get job titles and have descriptions, and that's what they're doing on the game. Their credit will reflect what they're doing on the game."

If you’ve ever thought “mini painting looks too hard,” this is the before/after on the Ithorian Padawan. Left was done in 30 minutes using 6 colors with barely any fancy technique. The right is the kind of thing you do when you have fun futzing with details. It’s easy to make them look good!
