Under the junk trailers across from the mill. There were 3; I was too lazy to walk around to the other one.
I got 3 sprinkles on my windshield on the drive to Reno this morning. 😒 This was Elephant about 9am today . Seems like the lines are holding.
I have been slogging away at this fantasy from Ilona Andrews for weeks. I am not and have never been an epic fantasy reader. Thought IA could get me past it, & nope. I have no patience for complicated intrigue or dense world building. I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely my least favorite of theirs.
At least this morning was more squeaky equipment and less deflated balloon saw noises. The other side of town has to listen to a yarder. That’s worse.
So much eye rolling today. “Turn everything into cities” is a weird take. 1) someone has to grow food, mine minerals, produce lumber etc. 2) The west has large swaths of land owned by the federal government. BLM/USFS/US National parks. People have to live there to manage it.
Today was a good wildlife day on the landscape. Coyote and Sandhill cranes in the pasture. Plus a bonus heron.
Been in the mood to bake today. Made a pumpkin one as well, but it turned out tough. Wondering if I forgot the oil or over mixed it. 2nd attempt is cooling.
AI overview getting stuff wrong again. I’m currently watching S4E15 of TNG where she plays a character who has the hots for Will Ricker. It’s very obviously her. 😂
To the smug person who doesn’t see the problem with wolves in human spaces, I bet you’d feel differently if your teenage son opened the front door to this and a mutilated animal. Maybe you’re smug enough to not care about rural people, but don’t pretend you’re a progressive person either.
I can’t remember where I read it first, but it’s in their methodologies for depredation info sheet. nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler....
Me: is he sticking his tongue out at you? Youngest: more like licking his lips.
Dinner was a bit late for us but there’s enough for seconds tomorrow
From my morning walk. It was vole city. Stopped counting after about 20. 5 snakes.
Sorry, but absolutely not. From a pamphlet called 250 Ways to Prepare Meat ©️ 1971 There’s a whole page for liver and kidneys, too.
I know they’re rodents, but I find them adorable. Must have seen 15 or more of them darting across the path. This guy was just super into his breakfast. Vole.
This is for everyone who was worried about my dried out teasel back in March. Those were last year’s. New growth should be blooming soon.
Bumped up the contrast so you could see it. 😂 The sticker residue and the scratches tell a story.
My terrible phone photo of the Sandhill. Taken from my car. 😂 Decided to take a drive in this miserable heat & they happened to be right by the road.
