Hockey, CFL, MLB, cooking, politics, music, photography, and cats. Kinda weird. Typos, so many typos. Oilers. Elks. Condors. Blue Jays.
*depression intensifies* I loved this player. I miss this player. Oilers D would have been so much better if not for his screwy shoulder.
Edmonton Elks win! Cody Fajardo runs in the winning TD in OT. Justin Rankin was an absolute beast again. 2-0 start to the season. I am cautiously optimistic about this team. Things look like they’re finally coming together.
I can only picture this whenever Tyler Rogers pitches. Marge Simpson: The OG Submariner
The Bakersfield Condors are in Palm Desert tonight for Game 2 against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The Condors won Game 1 in convincing fashion and hope to finish the best of 3 series. Contributions throughout the lineup and a terrific game from goaltender Matt Tomkins were key on Thursday.
You know I’d be really annoyed if I actually paid for this. I’m still pretty annoyed that they can’t get a playoff game streaming right. I miss AHLtv. Thankfully I didn’t miss anything.
No Connor Clattenburg and no Beau Akey for game 1. Akey might not have gone regardless but Clattenburg definitely would’ve. He’s been skating but not quite game ready. Matt Tomkins gets the start as expected. He’s had a solid second half of the season.
The Bakersfield Condors begin their best of 3 1st round series with the Coachella Valley Firebirds tonight. Bako has had success against CV this season winning 6 of 8. Only 5 on the roster have seen any AHL playoff action and 8 are rookies. Unsure if Clattenburg is back, waiting for lines.
Apparently this is where Jason Dickinson keeps his big dick energy. On the shelf of his stall, next to his left elbow pad.
So. Many. Kids. Condors and Barracuda get going in a few mins for the final regular season game. Bako will face Coachella Valley in the playoffs but home ice is still left to be determined. So this game matters. David Lewandowski makes his pro debut. Connor Ungar starts.
So much it definitely helped inspire this part of his Wikipedia page.
The Condors have their last home game tonight vs the San Jose Barracuda. The Condors are currently locked into the 4/5 spot in the division but their playoff opponent hasn’t been set. Looking like Coachella Valley but it could change. With Pickard recalled, Connor Ungar dresses as the backup.
Condors roll into Henderson tonight for a game with the Silver Knights. Despite being without much of their top 6 they still have a very capable forward group. Leppanen/Regula has been a solid pairing. Of note, Connor Ungar was recalled today from Orlando in the ECHL (loaner team).
Condors and Gulls in the back half of the B2B coming up. That’s a young forward group tonight. Nicholl stood out in a good way last night. Maybe Lafrenière does tonight but regardless he’s headed to college for extra seasoning. Veterans, rookie Carfagna, and Euro pro Leppanen on the back end.
Here’s Will Nicholl’s first pro goal. It was a great cross ice pass from Griffith but I really liked him following up the play with pace and opening himself up for the pass. Found the open space and unleashed the shot. Really good instincts.
San Diego is in Bakersfield tonight to face off with the Condors. Brand spankin’ new rookies get to play their 1st pro games. Will Nicholl will likely stick around for next year, while Tommy Lafrenière is headed to Western Michigan Univ. next season. Akey still banged up. Prokop in.
The Bakersfield Condors have a chance to clinch a playoff spot tonight against Tucson. They haven’t played well the last 5, so hoping for a strong outing tonight. I think all the kids will play looser once they do clinch. No Beau Akey tonight, Josh Brown draws in. Matt Tomkins starts.
It’s #caturday so here’s my simultaneously brilliant and stupid cat Waylon treating my closet as a jungle gym. He is 20lb and I have no idea how he is balancing just on clothes hangers. Sorry you gotta see his naughty bits. As you can see he doesn’t have much of a tail to cover up.
Both teams must have hoovered up piles of Peruvian marching powder between periods because that 2nd period was madness. 7 goals combined — Gulls scored 5, the Condors scored 2. Condors D was not good. Clattenburg went nuts to defend a teammate, so that was fun. He’s an adorable little psycho.
Bakersfield Condors take a quick trip to San Diego tonight to play the Gulls. Spreading out the offence with these lines. Bloom and Brown swap spots in Ft Wayne. Offence is more spread out with these lines. Akey and Prokop both draw in. Akey was apparently banged up. Calvin Pickard starts.
Bakersfield gets a visit from the Colorado Eagles tonight. Jarventie returns after his emergency recall. 1st line has been so good lately. I don’t know why they hate Beau Akey but I think they do. You’re going to win more with him than Josh Brown. Tomkins starts.
Condors and Stars face off tonight in game 2 of their weekend set on Bluey Night. Bako played a great game yesterday with a season high 44 shots. Lineups stay the same. Hamblin took a Regula slap shot in the ribs but was able to return and is good to go tonight. Matt Tomkins is the starter.
Oilers related AHL action tonight as the Condors take on the Stars. Josh Bloom makes his debut after being recalled from Ft Wayne. He was acquired from the Canucks for Jayden Grubbe March 13. Atro Leppanen has 11pts in his last 13gp. Calvin Pickard with the start coming off a SO last game.
Trying to have a conversation with Waylon and Willie about napping in the evenings and how it leads to them keeping me awake at night. My well reasoned arguments don’t seem to be resonating with them. Waylon’s definitely going to bring his toys into the bed at 3am now.
Bakersfield Condors vs Calgary Wranglers tonight. Condors hope to turn it around on home ice. No reinforcements with the Fs so it’s 11&7 again tonight. Same forward lines. Riley Stillman left hurt last game so Luke Prokop draws in. Calvin Pickard has the net.
