Temwa also held up a jersey for teammate Sabrina Thom who was carted off in their last match against Zambia.
The end of a fun Wednesday doubleheader in Kansas City sports today. #Royals with a sweep over the Giants, and Salvador Perez one step closer to history. #SportingKC gets a win back home since the WC break, hoping to turn their fortunes around. Local sports back on schedule.
Even at a World Cup quarterfinal, Tech N9ne gets a performance in at Arrowhead. I wonder if Argentinians will be singing KCMO now.
One last time for the world to see Kansas City in the World Cup. Argentina and Switzerland set to go. And we are in Argentina today at Arrowhead.
So much yellow for Colombia at Arrowhead tonight. But Ghana yellow kits as well. And lots of green for Mexico tonight, the team of the people. Getting ready to get started with the last World Cup round of 32 match.
Definitely a pro-Algerian crowd,, but plenty of Austrian fans here as well. One of the final and most important group matches about to get underway in Kansas City.
We are 2 and half hours away from first kick between Netherlands-Tunisia and Arrowhead Stadium is getting doused with rain at the moment. Flood watch is in effect for the KC area until tomorrow morning. Could be a wet one tonight.
The Orange bus and the Orange people are in position for the Netherlands march in downtown Kansas City today. Have already seen Tennessee Volunteer Orange and a Bucs Creamsicle Josh Freeman jersey for the KC area native. Murica.
Absolutely insane debut for Kansas City’s first World Cup match. Argentina put on a show against Algeria. And just before halftime, I talked to BBC about it. fb.watch/HOuWgqzLCY/?...
It was 3 battles and a war to get inside Arrowgead Stadium, the worst I’ve ever experienced commuting.. But we made it inside. And the colors around Arrowhead are overwhelmingly Argentina.
And the room has slimmed out for Algeria’s pre-World Cup press conference.. but still a solid amount of media members in tow.
About 20 minutes out from Argentina’s first World Cup press conference and the media hub is as busy as it’s ever been at Arrowhead Stadium. We are in the tents where the Chiefs have Sunday chapel before games, I believe.
Defensive masterclass by Cape Verde to get a 0-0 draw against Spain in its World Cup debut. Might never see a happier fanbase with a scoreless draw.
And we’ll end with the pic of the team and the kids. One of the most pure events I’ve ever covered. A perfect example of how you grow the game with community as a focal point. Algeria is already Lawrence’s team, and could become America’s team if they go on a run.
We got a kid who got past security for a picture with Man City star Rayan Aït-Nouri. Hope he made it out with a good pic.
A Sporting Kaw Valley player getting some personal instruction from Algerian assistant manager Davide Morandi while passing to Luca Zidane.. Just another day in Lawrence .
Once I get time, I’ll put a few vids in this thread.. But for now, enjoy watching Algerian players play with local soccer kids after their training session.
We got Big Jay and Little Jay repping the Algeria shirts. The University of Kansas and Lawrence is putting Algeria near the realm of Jayhawk fandom while they’re here for the World Cup.
