I don’t get fancy treats very often but this was on sale and just… god damn, Chapman’s! 🤩 Rich, smooth, not overly sweet, and genuinely tastes like a high end coffee with cream. Best ice cream, and half the price of the super duper fancy-name kinds, even when it’s not on sale. Excellence. ☺️

I have organized my tea bags. The tin is ‘regular’ (orange pekoe) tea, the jar is spiced chai, and the box they are sitting on is a few varieties of black tea etc. (Now if anyone here comes over for tea you know where to look. 😆)

Three containers of teabags:

-one is a round metal tin in yellows and browns with embossed flowers on it in step-cornered frames. The sides go straight up until about an inch from the top where they flare out and back in, making a kind of ‘shoulder’ bulge just before the top. The top is a very tight-fitting lid with a hexagonal knob. It used to have a handle but that fell off decades ago. That’s the ‘regular/orange pekoe’ tea tin.

-the second is a clear glass jar in which can vaguely be seen packages of tea. It has a glass lid with a rubber seal and one of those metal fasteners that flip down. That’s the spiced chai jar.

-both are set on top of a rectangular metal box marked in commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the “Overwaitea” grocery stores. The name “Overwaitea” is derived from the store’s original marketing habit of adding extra tea to every tea order, therefore ’over-weighing’ their tea. The grocery chain has mostly been folded into the “Save-On-More” chain now. This box has assorted varieties of black tea and other oddments.

Been decades since I crocheted a granny square. I have too many inside clothes that don’t have pockets, so I figured I’d crochet myself a phone holder. Couple granny squares, a long crocheted chain for a shoulder strap, simple, right? Started making it. Had a mental breakdown. (Bon appetit?😅)

A dark navy blue crocheted… something. It has the illusion of having four corners and intermittent gaps like a traditional granny square, but there is something distinctly …wrong about it. Like maybe there’s actually five corners. Or maybe it’s undulating in more than three dimensions. There’s a faint air of noneuclidean eldritchness about it, but in a dopey harmless sort of way. A bright orange crochet hook is still entwined in it, indicating that its shambling growth is not yet complete.

We apparently have the adult Christmas crackers, as in the trinkets are practical things. Like this tiny wee spice grater. 😊 (Not ‘adult’ adult things. Which would not have been conducive to a calm family feast. 😅)

A tiny four sided grater next to a butter knife for scale. The grater is about 2/3 the length of the knife blade, and about as wide.
