17 - dragonquest by Anne McCaffrey. This one I took a bit longer than a day and a half on.. but excited to read The White Dragon again as it was the first chapter book I read as a kid that wasn’t Narnia. Definitely can see McCaffreys growth as a writer in this one, too
16 - and a reread from childhood though I don’t think I finished it. I picked up a combined print of Dragonriders of Pern back at a book store in WA.. couldn’t put down Dragonflight. On to Dragonquest! Also damn a lot of things in this series did not age well but were still prog at time of writing
15 - Asimov May/June 2025. It took me a month to read this because my god I have been going to bed too late. But I did finish it! I feel like this one was a bit weaker than some other periodicals I read, but still had a few stories that stood out, like the one with Turing
14 - Of Monsters and Mainframes by Barbara Truelove THIS BOOK IS UNHINGED AF AND I LOVED IT AND I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT TRULY RABID FOR IT PLEASE GO READ IT IT HAS VAMPIRES AND SPACE AND WERWWOLVES AND ALIENS
Reddit surfaced this ad to me and I legit thought it was going to be an FFLogs or WVLogs shitpost. I was very disappointed.
13 - the book of elsewhere by Leanu Reeves and China Mieville. Admittedly I nearly DNF’d this because I don’t like the main female character. She’s written very weak. But I may reread it; it had a surprising amount of depth and things that were easily missed
I would truly die for this creature If she could talk she would also order my death simply because she would think it’s funny af and then be mad when I don’t feed her dinner and she has to eat my eyeballs herself
He loves Ball and would do anything for Ball (I have a tennis ball in my hand)
Lelaine “beans” “Fuzzball” sedai is immediately stoked that I’m home
A nice thing about having an office to go to is I have an excuse to put some effort into my look
Yeah so a while back (like years ago) I ordered a box of cider because I was going through a phase. Anyway it turned out to be an entire carton. How did I not notice? That’s not important. What’s important is I have not had to buy a box of cider since.
Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet(s) Definitely a toss up between these two.
12 - Analog May/June 2025. Took me a bit because of moving but just as delightful as ever. That last story.. yeah that one is going to stay with me a while.
11 - A Parade of Horribles, book 8 of DCC by Matt Dinniman You mean I gotta wait for at least a year now with THAT cliffhanger? This guy better not go GRRM on us! I’m going to need a minute. What a ride.
i opened the sims 4 up for the first time in yeeeears, said yes to something on the phone, and now my poor sim has like 5 people in their house for a week they're an introvert so uh LOL
Holy crap I’m not alone - this is just some of the BS I’ve dealt with Thank you @collinsworth.dev for such a well written post. It really put this year’s struggles into perspective and let me know I’m not crazy or out of touch. joshcollinsworth.com/blog/tailwin...
But anyway here’s my cat taking her medication (It’s a much larger serving than intended because we are still figuring out how much to water her meds down with the Mac and cheese, and once the medicated Mac is gone she’s only getting the sauce)
10 - Hood by Stephen R Lawhead Lawhead is a favorite author of mine from my teen years, and has always really stroked the coals of my intense special interest in Welsh/Gaelic history. Hood reimagined in Wales was a wonderful adventure - I’m not sure why I couldn’t get into it originally :)
9 - Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle Another beautiful queer horror story. @chucktingle.bsky.social never disappoints and just in time for his new book too! Also I technically finished this on Sunday, but forgot to update the thread. Left it with my mom after coming out as bisexual
Well we landed in SNA Annnd my new luggage apparently suffered badly wtf?? I just got it on Friday
8 - This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinniman I’m so mad I have to wait almost a month for more Carl. Yes I could just pay for the Patreon but it’s not the *same* And how does this series just continue to get better like this??
