This paragraph in the piece summarizes the use of “common sense” reasonably well.
I enjoy a lot of British television where farm animals make regular appearances and my standard poodle gets very interested when they show up on the screen. Often running up to the tv for a closer look.
So you can use the grapefruit spoons handed down to you from your grandparents!
The road in front of my place is being milled and repaved for the second time since I moved into my home (22 years). Again, I’m willing to bet @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social will add no bike infrastructure to help people using active modes get to the shiny new recreation centre a couple of blocks away.
@cityofnorthvan.bsky.social one of the worst intersections on my commute. Today a cyclist was hit by a truck and I hear another was hit yesterday. Drivers are constantly speeding, disregarding signals and people in crossings. Some of the worst infrastructure going and I doubt anything will change.
Unless you’re a pedestrian or ride a bike to get around @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social This favourite catch phrase is getting tiresome. Safe streets would make us a healthier city. When are you going to do something about it?
Fresh from the groomer. The big question is; how long can I keep him clean?
So grateful to be allowed to occupy a small portion of his couch.
@cityofnorthvan.bsky.social continues to promote biking as transportation but won’t provide us with the safe, connected network that would make this possible for more people. We have a couple of recreational MUPs and a few lengths of protected bike lanes only. Nothing that goes where we need to go!
@cityofnorthvan.bsky.social continues to promote bikes as a transportation mode while failing to provide us with a safe, connected network to make riding for utility safe and convenient. We only hear from them during these special events. The rest of the year all I hear is, “it’s complicated”.
Reminded again, that despite this sign, Chesterfield is not bike friendly. @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social when are we going to have a complete network that gives us safe access to the places we need to go? The MUPs in this city don’t work for transportation cycling.
Cheers! I’m at home because the bars and pubs around here have televisions.
@northshorenews.bsky.social why are you still allowing shares to the toxic site X but not providing the option for Bluesky? How about replacing the direct link to X with Bluesky?
It's great to see engagement with the public from @dnv.org on this platform. Shame my own city @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social can't be bothered.
This driver felt he wasn’t blocking anyone. Didn’t want to pull into the car dealership parking lot because that might inconvenience them. @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social are you ever going get serious about making riding a bike safe, rather than challenging and dangerous?
If only the law explicitly said people on bikes may take the lane.
I have no such pictures. Instead, please enjoy this picture of my poodle demanding my full attention.
All in my neighbourhood within the span of a day. I wonder if the @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social & our RCMP will ever recognize that these MVA violations create a serious danger to other road users & take action to put a stop to it? This behaviour is so common that enforcement would be a full time job.
A swing and a miss by @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social. They spent a lot of time replacing the corner sidewalk at Jones + 17th to reorient the curb cut, for wheeled users to better access the crosswalks. They failed to extend the curb to align with the edge of parking and reduce the crossing distance.
@cityofnorthvan.bsky.social continues to promote riding to work and school by bike without providing us with the infrastructure to make doing so safe. The lack of action by this council has left me deflated. I’ve had so many close calls, I’m thinking of going back to commuting by car.
