Joint Statement from Tri-Caucus, Democratic Leadership on Mace Resolution:
Joint statement from Democratic Caucuses on DHS Public Charge Rule:
There are 430,000 DREAMers from Asia and over 10,000 TPS holders from Myanmar and Nepal living in the U.S. They deserve the chance to live, work, and contribute to our country without the constant threat of deportation. Congress must pass the American Dream and Promise Act.
Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients have built lives, families, and careers in the U.S. They deserve permanent protection, not the constant threat of detention and deportation. Congress must pass the American Dream and Promise Act.
Every student deserves access to an affordable, high-quality education. Chair @meng.house.gov joined @searac.bsky.social @derektran.bsky.social for a roundtable discussion on how we can put higher education in reach for Southeast Asian youth and other underrepresented communities.
Republicans in Congress must stop enabling these abuses.
Fox News host Jesse Watters joked about soldiers raping Asian women on national television. This is exactly the kind of vile, misogynistic rhetoric that dehumanizes Asian women and fuels real-world violence against them. Fox News, do you condone this behavior?
Two people were shot and killed by ICE agents last week. Their families deserve justice. CAPAC Chair @meng.house.gov joined nearly 200 Members of Congress in demanding an immediate, independent investigation into both of these tragic deaths. ICE must be held accountable.
ICE agents, dressed in plain clothes and wearing no visible identification, tackled an elderly Asian man to the ground at an airport. If these officers are acting lawfully, why are they hiding their identities? Why did they flee?
CAPAC Chair @meng.house.gov Condemns ICE Incident at Las Vegas Airport:
Six years ago, we lost Congressman John Lewis — a civil rights icon who spent his life fighting for every American's right to vote. He asked us to get into 'good trouble.' Today, we honor him by doing exactly that and continuing the fight to protect voting rights.
American exceptionalism is often defined in terms of our nation’s economic and military power. But above all, what sets America apart is our multiracial democracy, an achievement unmatched anywhere else in the world. Read Chair @meng.house.gov’s op-ed at the link in bio.
@repmarktakano.bsky.social keeps it classic when it comes to his tea. 🍵 Find out why—and learn even more—in the latest episode of Spill the Tea with Chair Meng. Link in bio.
The Trump administration is trying to strip hardworking, law-abiding immigrants of their commercial driver’s licenses — impacting thousands of Sikh truckers. CAPAC joined the @hispaniccaucus.bsky.social in urging the court to reject this xenophobic and harmful rule.
Welcome to our newest Associate Members @repgregstanton.bsky.social & @repluzrivas.bsky.social! Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians & Pacific Islanders are the fastest growing racial group in the nation—including in states like CA & AZ—& we're excited to work together to deliver for our communities.
250 years ago, America was founded on the revolutionary belief that all people are created equal. As we celebrate Independence Day, let’s remember that patriotism means defending those ideals and working to make liberty and justice a reality for every American.
Spill the Tea with Chair @meng.house.gov is BACK with a special #America250 edition! Our guest is First Vice Chair @repmarktakano.bsky.social, who reflects on what it means to be an American and why he believes our nation will continue moving toward a more perfect union.
ICYMI: If you are born in America, you are American.
If you are born in America, you are American. Today, the Supreme Court upheld the bedrock principle of birthright citizenship that has allowed millions of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders to call this nation home. We are American, we belong here, and we are not going anywhere!
Joint Statement from Tri-Caucus Chairs on Supreme Court Upholding Birthright Citizenship:
Happy Immigrant Heritage Month! This June, Chair @meng.house.gov is thinking of her parents — who came to this nation more than fifty years ago in search of a better life — and of the immigrant communities across America who make our nation stronger every day.
Donald Trump promised to deliver lower prices on day one. The reality? Prices rising at the fastest pace in 3 years.
What was that about waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars? 🤔
