Last photo before I pull this entire scarf out. Turns out, it really is too wide for my preferences. Five and a half (to 5¾) inches wide is apparently too wide to be comfortable. Though it was nice to be able to work on it while it's around my neck... #crochet #tunisiancrochet #crochetscarf 1/3

And the knitted "padding" inside the cuffs, to prevent cold air from blowing up my wrists. Interestingly, aside from the "ribbing" around my waist, these were one of the very, VERY first steps I'd ever completed on this project! Man, it's taken me ages... 3/3

My officially-licensed TNG-era Combadge by Qmͯ, with the knitted pocket that holds its magnetic back-plate. Should I remove the badge (or it's otherwise) pulled off, the plate won't fall out. Though, it is tempting to sew the plate into the pocket... =^.~= 2/3

My complete TNG-era crochet cardigan! The Alpine stitch provides a lovely texture to add interest to the otherwise flat-looking uniform.

A crochet cardigan inspired by the TNG-era Starfleet uniforms. The only thing left to add is the last three buttons, as the first six are already attached. Also shown is the remaining yarn from the dark red and dark grey colours I'd used for the cardigan itself, a toy Tricorder, an officially licensed TNG-era Combadge, and two small ziplock bags, one with the remaining three buttons and the other with the three almost-gold (more like peach) buttons I'll be using as rank pips (for the rank of Commander).

Well, I did NOT expect my officially-licensed Combadge by Qmͯ to actually stay attached to something this thick! But it's doing so well! While it looks like the Knitted Stockinette stitch, it's a scarf-in-progress made with the Tunisian Double-Knit Stitch, so it'll look pretty much the same on the back. However, the important part is an officially licensed Voyager/DS9 era Combadge (by Qmͯ) is hanging by its magnet to its backplate, quite successfully.

The second button band is *nearly* complete, though I may have to back up a bit to rearrange how the second button band lines up with that side's hem. I'm short two rows on this side. Fortunately, not all that much work to redo! So darn close, now! Hooray! =^.^= #crochet #tng-cardigan 1/2

My TNG Uniform Cardigan nearly complete, with one button band complete, and the other just three inches from the end. The crochet hook I'm using is attached across the width of said band, with a two-inch diameter ball of yarn still connected.

And I'd wanted to try a diagonal line in case it looked interesting. And it does! I'll need to redo this join due to having WAY too much red yarn left over, and I'm going to try the diagonal going the other way to see if I can get rid of that odd line across the back. 3/3

One button band complete, and about a quarter of the way through the other one! You can't really see it in this picture, but I've tripled up the vertical bars on consecutive rows to make a more secure point to attach the buttons to, and to align with the buttonholes. #crochet #tng-cardigan 1/2

The setup I used to finish off the surface slip-stitches at the library today. Turns out, my custom lamp wasn't bright enough, so I used some magnets to attach my flashlight to the head, and got *way* more light! The TSS button bands should be next. Fingers crossed! #crochet #tng-cardigan

Despite being a brighter library today, I actually had to augment the lamp I'd brought to ensure I could see what I was doing this time. Working a surface slip-stitch into the edge was a LOT more intricate than I'd expected, so the light was quite helpful. #crochet #tng-cardigan 1/3

A closeup of a button attachment point. Tripling-up the vertical loops ought to be enough strength to hold a button in place, right? It's across two consecutive rows as button holes will be between two rows on the opposite hem. Hopefully it works out! 2/3

A bright red scarf in progress, using the Tunisian Double-Knit Stitch. A small ceramic bowl holds the badly-slumping skein I'd wound this yarn into, sitting next to the scarf that's just over a foot in length by now. A very skinny afghan hook is through every stitch at the end.

The Tunisian Double-Knit Stitch scarf, folded in half to show that the front and back are essentially identical in appearance, resembling the Double-Knitting technique from knitting.

The afghan hook (basically a knitting needle with a crochet hook head instead of a point) reads "2.5mm", and holds every stitch for the entire width of the scarf across its top.

I'm confident enough that the collar is within my preferred tolerances, so I'm about 95% certain I *won't* need to undo anything I've completed by this point, so it's basically just the button bands left to go! I'm trying to be careful this time, so I don't have to undo it much. #tng-cardigan 1/3

A bright red scarf-in-progress, using a fairly thin (probably Fingering?), fluffy yarn. It has a long afghan-style crochet hook at the top, but is still making it look like the front of the knitted Stockinette stitch.

A closeup of the collar. I'd gone for the very simple Tunisian Simple Stitch, using a 4.5mm afghan hook, which is one size up from what I'd been using for the rest of the cardigan. And it's worked very well so far! I want the collar to pull open until it's buttoned up, and it does that! =^.^= 2/3

So, it turns out I may have run this yarn through the winder a couple too many times. If I don't have any tension on the yarn, it twists up like it's got too much twist in it. Oh well! My TNG Uniform Cardigan project with about another pair of rows added on. The ceramic bowl holding the cake of more yarn has a pile of twisted yarn sitting on top of it, as I'd added *too* much twisted back by running it through my yarn winder a few too many times. It still works well, though.

The "corners" on top of each shoulder have moved inwards just a bit more, so we should be on track for a successful run this time.

As far as I was able to get today before needing to start the next ball of yarn, and found out that the new ball of yarn needs to be twisted a LOT tighter than it currently is. Fortunately, I found this out *immediately*, and was able undo and fix things. #crochet #crochetcardigan #tng-cardigan 1/3

My TNG-era Uniform cardigan project, laid out flat. A knitted patch on the left breast has a pocket behind it, allowing a magnet-backed Combadge to get pulled off *without* the backing plate falling away. The shoulder caps are still incomplete, with steps running up and away from the front hems starting to form the shape of the front neckline. Stitch markers show where the decreases need to happen on the tops of the shoulders, as well as where various points near the lapels had been pulled back to.

In the middle of the cardigan sits a Lights And Sounds Tricorder by Running Press, with sticker "controls" and a light-up "display", as a toy replica of a TR-560 Type VI Tricorder from the TNG era of Star Trek.

My superflat creative test world. You don't need much to have a highly effective Guardian Farm. But a bug in Minecraft's superflat code is preventing me from testing the Squid Ink farm, because NO passive ocean mobs are spawning. #minecraft 1/2

Just inside the cleared-out space are two glass boxes, one inside the footprint of the Ocean Monument has a collection system underneath it, and the one just outside the footprint for Squid Ink.
