The Legislature is heading into Summer Recess for a well deserved break but we will be back in session August 3rd, ready to get our bills to the Governor’s desk. In the meantime, I hope my Sacramento team doesn’t miss me too much!

The CA Senate came together to celebrate and introduce SR 67 for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, followed by a special performance of the national anthem by Filo Ebid. Thank you, Senator for an intentional tribute to our nation and the values we stand behind.

Every Year, I get to select an honoree as LGBTQ+ person of the Year for SD20, & this year it was my privilege to select Elizabeth Padilla.  Elizabeth plays a key role at ICON CDC in organizing multilingual workshops, economic opportunities, & supporting our LGBTQ+ vendors in feeling represented.

Today is a proud day for California. I stood alongside our Latina Senate President pro Tempore, who made history as the first Latina to sign legislation into law as Acting Governor.
