Senator Caroline Menjivar
@carolinemenjivar
CA State Senator, 20th district. Marine, MSW 🇺🇸 🇸🇻 🏳️🌈 Fighting for the people of Burbank and San Fernando Valley.
You’ve probably known a family or loved one navigating the Regional Center system & wondered why they might be facing challenges getting connected. Whether it’s an update on a case or experiencing delays with obtaining your services, my district office may be able to help!
The 4th Annual @sfv.pride showed the 818 being loud, standing together, and affirming every queer person deserves to feel seen, valued, safe, and welcome. This is Our Ground to Hold, from the 818 and across the spectrum.
Some people’s fragile ego may be intimidated by Latina Power but here in SD 20 we use it in every space we enter. Latina Power is resilience, showing up, speaking up, and never shrinking yourself for the benefit of others
Go ahead… tell us the whole story. When it comes to casework with our state departments, my team is ready to listen, understand your situation, and help get your case moving. Every detail helps us serve YOU better.
Summer break shouldn’t mean worrying about your child’s next meal. That’s why I want to remind you about SUN Bucks, a program that provides eligible children with $120 to help cover grocery costs while school is out. If you have questions please contact my district office or visit the link in bio.
I know how accessing behavioral health care can sometimes be difficult. My team recently went on a site tour with SFVCMC who can assist you in finding behavioral health care in Senate District 20. Here’s a first look at what you can expect when visiting their Van Nuys location!
This beautiful career can be nonstop sometimes, so it’s important to engage in self care. But don’t worry, my team is still locked in and continuing to serve SD20.
Everyday is Our Ground to Hold, especially as we fight for a community that welcomes and protects the fundamental rights every person deserves. The sunshine from SFV PRIDE continues to carry us forward - stay tuned for our full SFV PRIDE Recap!

As federal activity increases, we stand united because our neighbors deserve to live without being targets. We take care of each other by staying informed…
You’ve probably driven around the valley & wondered why some of our freeways don’t look as nice as others. Here’s the thing, we can’t fix what we don’t know is broken. Just like you, I want our on/off ramps maintained like every other one across CA, & here’s how you can help make that happen.
While we need more therapists, many don’t realize the crucial role MSWs play in public policy & government. I had the opportunity to join CSUN's Summer MSW Program to speak with students on what a macro MSW career could look like. I shared a bit about my journey & the impact they can make.
America turns 250 today, and its history is comprised of mistakes, embarrassment, pain and suffering. But her history also captures the people who never stopped fighting for her, the people who come together to defend her when she’s attacked, the neighbors working hard for a better life…
One thing is clear, freedom is something we ALL have to fight for, together. Check out @asmjeffgonzalez and I’s Fox segment on the creation of our bipartisan California Legislative Veterans Caucus.
Happy Fourth of July and 250th birthday to the U.S.A!
The Legislature is heading into Summer Recess for a well deserved break but we will be back in session August 3rd, ready to get our bills to the Governor’s desk. In the meantime, I hope my Sacramento team doesn’t miss me too much!
The CA Senate came together to celebrate and introduce SR 67 for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, followed by a special performance of the national anthem by Filo Ebid. Thank you, Senator for an intentional tribute to our nation and the values we stand behind.
Do you have allergies like me? Always having to be extra careful at restaurants, wondering what allergens are hiding in food? Well, starting today, you’ll see the roll-out of my first in the nation bill SB 68
The new federal government’s requirements on CalFresh eligibility are going into effect tomorrow! Which means that if you are a CalFresh recipient, you may no longer qualify! New work requirements may restrict your access to food assistance. Watch here to learn more or visit the Link in Our Bio!
Cal OES Grants Management just dropped the 2026 Nonprofit Security Grant Funding Opportunity for eligible nonprofits looking to boost their security infrastructure. 📌Swipe through to learn How to apply - the Grant Management Memorandum (GMM) is also linked in my bio.
Yesterday Pride, today Horses. Riding 🐎 and loving life in our Valley hills, where community, tradition, and open trails come together.
Every Year, I get to select an honoree as LGBTQ+ person of the Year for SD20, & this year it was my privilege to select Elizabeth Padilla. Elizabeth plays a key role at ICON CDC in organizing multilingual workshops, economic opportunities, & supporting our LGBTQ+ vendors in feeling represented.
SD 20! I met up with Sandy to try 3 small vendors that have been providing the area of Arleta with amazing drinks, food & even merch! San Fernando Valley has no shortage of astounding vendors, which is why we are recognizing 3 vendors for their hard work & dedication. Where should I go next?!
I was honored to have the chance in joining @zawadiculturalcollective for their 9th Annual Juneteenth Community Celebration.
Team Menjivar has seen some changes in our district office over the past couple of months, so allow us to reintroduce ourselves! Get excited to see us in SD20! ✨🫱🏼🫲🏽 We’re the team behind every constituent request, tabling at your events and attending those community events.
Today is a proud day for California. I stood alongside our Latina Senate President pro Tempore, who made history as the first Latina to sign legislation into law as Acting Governor.
In 10 days we march! RSVP now to march and get loud for our community and our neighbors. JOIN US: 🗓️ Saturday June 27th 🏳️🌈 3:00 PM March & Rally ALL Details are at: sfvpride.org
We’re voting on the two party budget today…. What am I going to talk about now?! It’s true, I spend a lot of time fighting against harmful proposed cuts in CA’s State Budget (1/2)
What an honor to be the commencement speaker at my alma mater, to speak to the students who walk the same halls I did.. From one Bruin to another, congratulations, UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, Class of 2026. I cannot wait to see what this new class of MURPs, MPPs, and MSWs will accomplish.
