Something really fun about SMoDfest this year was Dan and Martha giving a shout out to Harlequin on the boardgame. It actually brought loads of new people into the pub who had never been before. Small gesture but it made a big difference at a quiet time of year for us 💙
Happy anniversary Sean!! A rare spotting of one of your beers here in Sheffield the other day. It was a delicious mild!!
A very unintentional theme to my last two pint and books! Both very queer and very grotty to varying degrees. I knew what I was getting into with Paradise Rot, less so Closer. Both very good pieces of writing, but not for the squeamish.
Happy 2nd Birthday Harlequin!! Two years ago we re-opened this pub that had been neglected for years by a well known online terf. Now it is a place of love and community (and also great beer and chip butties!!). Two Flints plus Two by Two tap Takeover, and a house band on today as we celebrate 🥳
I realise I've been neglecting to post my usual pints and books so here's the last two I've finished. Both absolutely excellent books.
Bring on the fucking nukes man. I can't live through an era of personalised AI beermats. You can't make me.
friends fear he is on his bullshit again (tap list and shandy menu to follow)
Very excited to host our sparkling red wine tasting this evening. Thankful that the temperature has slightly dipped, and I get to bore 30 people with my love for lambrusco.
Excruciatingly slow day at work, so I decided to take a photo of our Britannia tables. They've got a little dude on them, which I am only now just noticing.
Love changing the pub lighting to gay and trans patterns for pride.
I doubt either of you have the time, but would recommend popping to Ilkeston (one stop on the train i think) and to the Dewdrop for one of their famous chonion rolls.
Spent my Sunday making game pie, and braising cabbage. Absolutely delicious.
sometimes, the person for whom it is worth opening the nice bottle of wine, is yourself x
Seeing Charles Leclerc crash out of his home race vs. Seeing Stroll do the exact same thing a mere handful of laps earlier.
Unfortunately, my interpretation is that you would still fall foul of the below in this situation. The statement is completely contradicted later though, so the terf bog solution is the same amount of viable as the two arguments I recommended I think.
Spent the best part of half an hour rigging up a handpull to be able to connect direct to a bag in box behind the bar. Only to open said box and find this janky ass attachment that will fit absolutely nothing I have. The Belgians don't want us to handpull their geuze!!
We're doing a fun little toer de geuze between the pubs next week and I am DETERMINED to deliver the people some hand pulled Oud Beersel.
