I died at this amazing blurb from @eleanortuckerauthor and I’m writing this from heaven. Eleanor wrote Turn Back Time which is one of my favourite books ever. Such a witty satire on ageing and the beauty industry. #bookreview #bookblurb #bookrecs #bookclub #bookrecommendations
Birthday cake was a little late, but look at it! Perfect. Top layer was madeira, middle was chocolate and the bottom was cookie dough. Almost died and went to heaven. #cake #cookiedoughfood
The Mothers of SW19 is diverse. It’s diverse because all books should be. It’s diverse because I live in London, and London is diverse.
Another five star review for The Mothers of SW19. Available in ebook and paperback from all good book stores, and online, from 27th August. #beef #meangirls #femalefriend #femalefriendships #bookstagram
Fair to say the grass is dead. #wimbledon🎾 #drought #grass #london
Went to the dentist on my birthday. Sounds like it should suck, but it was a sunny day and I enjoyed the walk. The summer holidays are 24/7 and going to the dentist alone was practically a holiday. 😂😂🥂❤️ #motherhood #parenting #summerholidays
Not long now until the mothers of SW19 arrive. They will be bringing a lot of trouble with them. Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty and Amandaland. Yes, you can mix the two if you want something darker. #booksbooksbooks #bookclub #parenting #motherhood #authorcommunity
Cinnamon bun update: this one from M&S was still warm when I bought it. It tastes freshly baked. It has a lightness to it that I appreciated. The top had a good crunch and it only cost £1.95.
The greatest privilege of my life. #mumof4 #motherhood #fertility #parenting
I have a teeny tiny thing in the September issue of Good Housekeeping 🤩😍
Bumped into this handsome fur baby on #InternationalCatDay Got a good stroke in.
OMG! What a beautiful review. Thank you so much. I’m crying right now. I cannot wait for you to meet my deeply flawed characters in The Mothers of SW19. You will either love them, or love to hate them. #bookclubs #bookclub #writingcommunity #readingaddict
Good day to everyone except the person who decided handheld fans should be designed to have the faces come off. #fans #handheldfans #baddesign
The Mothers of SW19 are going on tour. I wonder what trouble they will get into. #booktour #writingcommunity #authorsofinstagram #authorcommunity #SW19
I dedicated my new book, The Mothers of SW19, to my grandmother-in-law, Vivien. Vivien was the grandmother I never had. She died when I was editing the book. So I wrote her into it. I cried yesterday when I thought about her. She was beautiful, unique, and the kindest person I ever met.
Went to the Telegraph pub for lunch. Had their amazing steak burger and the Hugo cocktail. Then went for a walk on @wimbledonputneycommons I love Wimbledon Common. So lucky to live in 2019. It’s the best place on earth. #SW19 #wimbledon #southfields #putney #London
We went to Woburn Forest, Centre Parcs, for a week. Hard going with a baby (isn’t everything?), but we had the time of our lives. Will definitely be back. #woburnforest #centreparcs #familyofsix #fourchildren #familyholiday
When an outsider enters an elite circle of affluent parents, a fierce rivalry erupts. As social climbing turns into psychological warfare, how far will these women go to secure their status and protect their secrets? Find out on August 27th. #writingcommunity #bookclub #reading
After my oldest son being super rude about how healthy lunch was yesterday, I had this today. A strong statement, well made.
Obsession, jealousy, revenge, cliques, motherhood, female friendship, loneliness, social media influencers, journalists… The Mothers of SW19 has it all in a famous postcode. 😍🤩
I have been testing all of the cinnamon buns. This one is from Gail’s and a little squashed from being underneath the pram. Nevertheless, it’s gorgeous. Crispy and crunchy in the right places, and soft in the others. Perfect amount of cinnamon and a decent size. One of my favourites. @gailsbakery
I forgot to share this little quote of how I decide what to share in my writing, and what not to. There’s a bit of judgement about writing about your personal life, but I have always been a very open person. I love moments when we share the human experience. Loved this piece by Greta Solomon.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but my third novel, The Mothers of SW19, is out on August 27. I wrote it during lockdown, banging out 3000 words a day while pregnant, taking care of a toddler, and homeschooling my firstborn. I love this book. I hope you do too.
I am not built for summer. I’m a reader, an autumn girl. I’m pale and like to curl up with a good book while it rains outside. Insects, heatwaves: no thanks. Someone took pity on me and recommended these cooling sheets. I bought some for all of us.
Had to try the chocolate strawberry and pistachio creme sandwich from @mandsfood I saw someone on socials say there was too much chocolate in it. Absolutely not. Packed with strawberries, a gorgeous pistachio creme and chocolate bread. Tastes like actual heaven. 10/10. No notes.
