Despite the fact that people are waiting less time for public housing, CCPA-NS Research Associate Dr. Catherine Leviten-Reid says it is not enough. The public housing wait time dropped from 27 months in 2022 to 19 months now. The priority access wait time is typically 11 months. #nspoli

Author, journalist, activist

Linda McQuaig is the author of Shooting the Hippo (1995), which was deemed as one of the most influential Canadian books of the past 25 years by the Literary Review of Canada in 2017.

In addition to being the author of seven Canadian bestselling books, Linda is an investigative journalist and winner of a National Newspaper Award. She has been a reporter, writer, and columnist for some of Canada’s most influential media outlets, including the Globe and Mail, Maclean’s Magazine, and the Toronto Star.

We are thrilled to have Linda McQuaig join us in-person to speak about her most recent book, Cancelling Billionaires Before They Cancel Us, with co-author Neil Brooks, on June 23rd.

Neil Brooks
Author, leading lax scholar

Neil Brooks has researched extensively on income tax issues in Canada, and has published numerous books, articles, and reports on the topic. For his work in the field, Neil was awarded with a Lifetime Contribution Award by the Canadian Tax Foundation in 2017.

In his role at Osgoode Hall Law School, he was awarded the Canadian Association of Law Teacher’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Neil has acted as a consultant for governments on the matter of tax policy and reform–both in Canada and abroad.

We look forward to hearing Neil’s in-depth knowledge on and experience with tax policy in Canada as he speaks on his most recent book Cancelling Billionaires Before They Cancel Us, with co-author Linda McQuaig, on June 23rd.
