A whole main road in Edinburgh got shut down yesterday because of a "chemical spill". A brief foray in the Other Place shows that this was likely the result of terfs being weird about a duct-tape trans flag on a lamppost... What a time to be alive.

Yesterday, an emergency response (including police, ambulances, and fire crews) cordoned off the street. The response was triggered by reports of an "unknown substance" found on this lamppost.

The tweet text reads: "Not sure if this lamppost was involved with the major incident today, but video online shows tape was gone, yet two hours later, it's back @edinhelp If this was linked to the earlier incident, this is a serious escalation, and a blatant two fingers up to the emergency services."
A reply by @EdinFeminists reads: "@edinhelp Can you arrange from the tape (corner of Maxwell St/Morningside Road) to be removed. Again, please? Thanks you."

Below this, a reply from @GidontcareG dated August 18 says she reported the same issue a couple of days prior. She describes the act as a "criminal man" obsessively "marking his territory" in an "aggressive manly way" because "he's not getting the message."

At the bottom, an embedded post from the same user dated August 16 tags @edinhelp to report that various lampposts at the bottom of Morningside have been targeted with blue, pink, and white tape. The user praises the council for prompt removals in the past but notes that the 'vandal' seems determined.

I'm visiting for the weekend, and still obsessed with my mum's book shelf: one of these books is not like the others...
