Clara Bow had put her knee surgically back together on Tuesday and came home yesterday. (She got a pup cup from a local place on the way home.) She’s not feeling great, but is doing well. I can’t get over the precision shave on her leg—a perfect right angle on her hip and a wave around her hock.

I Keep Making Stupid Shit for My Own Enjoyment, Part 2:

A green suet cage hangs among bare bare branches. It has a partially eaten beige suet block in it. On the far side of the suet cage, the head of a pale bird with a bright cap pokes up, staring over the top of the feeder. At the bottom of the feeder you can see the forked, dark tip of the bird’s tail. (It is a red-bellied woodpecker, in case you’re wondering.) My beloved soul-dog, Siofra, was incredibly smart, but would watch anything tossed to her hit her face, then she’d go get it. I always assumed she’d figured out it’s easier to pick up something that’s landed than it is to try and catch it as it moves in midair. Lord, do I miss that dog. 💔

Please note: I actually love starlings, but they are the overloud, quarrelsome, pushy, ravenous locusts of the backyard birds. Yet, they’re beautifully endearing in their way. Especially when it’s cold and their bedraggled, puffy feathers make them look like they just woke from a weeklong bender.
