I’m back from my Scottish adventures, and I’m looking at my fall calendar, booking editing projects. Reach out if you’d like to chat about structural edits, manuscript evaluations, submission packages, book coaching, or anything book-related, self-publishing or traditional. #BookSky #EditorSky
Dragged my overtired self to Rustico today and more please.
Oh and even tho I did touch the stones I am still very much here in 2026. (If you read/watched Outlander, you’ll get the reference.) #ClavaCairns
We’re staying in a small, Scottish town called Carnoustie. If you enjoy golf, you’ve probably heard of it; if you don’t, unlikely. It’s a seaside town so more beach, less highlands. We’ll be exploring the highlands while here, but I do love me a pretty shoreline.
Hello, Scotland, I have missed you. 🏴 Unrelated: this has got to be the best photo I’ve ever taken from the sky. Here, we’re preparing to land in Edinburgh.
Yesterday, I visited River John in Nova Scotia for their Read by the Sea festival, where I also presented a session on editing. What a beautiful region! I couldn’t resist pulling over to admire the view on my drive home.
Chronic Pain Win of the day: I noticed, while chopping things for a yummy summer bean salad, that many of the same items could also be used in a pico de gallo. So I made both, saving me energy than if I’d made them separate, and now I have healthy things to snack on when my appetite cues are low.
You know you live with chronic pain when you order your pain topicals in bulk…
Oh my did Microsoft Word put me through the ringer today! If you, like me, found today a challenge (for whatever reason), Sir Waffles is here to gift you a smile.
It's an "embrace your inner hag" day over here... Happy Thursday, all. For my local friends: The sun has arrived! Enjoy, enjoy!☀️
In case you’re in need of a smile, Waffles is here to help.
I recently attended the national Editors Canada conference. What a time it was! I haven’t written a blog post in years, but this experience inspired me. To read all about the thing that made me come out of my blog hibernation, visit here: rosemountediting.com/how-a-nation... #AmEditing #Edibuddies
I’m in Halifax, attending the national Editors Canada conference. It’s so nice to see these familiar faces again! Sessions kick off tomorrow, so today I took 2 editor pals to Peggy’s Cove. Lobster rolls were involved. Followed by welcome reception and 2-hour walk, roaming downtown. A great day.
I’ve been learning how to grow things in water, no soil. I just scored two new-to-me hydroponic stations to add to my collection, and I’m giddy to try it out. “Planted” some cherry tomatoes in them and then ripped out the 1 tomato stalk growing in my mammoth one. I’ll use that for lettuce. 🥬 🍅
Shoutout to these fabulous leggings that have built-in knee braces. Huzzah for stability! Bracelayer, for anyone interested. (Also, I’m always hyperextending somewhere, apparently! Check out my right ankle…). #HEDS
Despite the fatigue, I ventured out into the world today. Got me hairs did. (Please ignore the tires that is written all over my face.)
My new pillow. Seriously. I belong to a few hypermobility support groups and people keep raving about Squishmallows as pillows. For your head, yes, but also to support various joints as you sleep. I decided to try it and borrowed one from my 13yo. Sold! Scooped up one of my own today.
There’s a huge link between chronic pain and the nervous system so a lot of my pain-regulation work focuses of nervous system work. It’s also the first thing I kick out the door when pressed for time, sadly. Tonight, I dragged my acupressure mat out of retirement and restarted that program.
Squashmallows are super popular within the hypermobility/ehlers-danlos community, so tonight I’m giving it a try. Borrowed one from my youngest and hoping when I wake at 3am and see this face, I don’t freak out.
I interrupt your hockey timeline with an update on our sweet pup: The vet called today and after a full day on IV, she’s starting to perk up. Even ate some chicken (she’d been off food since We’d and she’s a lab so that’s a code red signal). Here’s a snap of her, with hot gel packs to warm her up.
Sometimes, you just need to cuddle your mom (even if it crushes her).
Love me a good Highland Cow! Also, these guys drink water the same way our Great Pyrenees does (mouth wide open), so maybe a distant relative?
While in the Northumberland region of England, we stayed at Langley Castle. We had a private villa, and we felt very fancy. Peacocks roamed the grounds!
Gonna be sappy for a moment, friends: Today, my husband and I renewed our vows, in celebration of 20 years of marriage. A private ceremony: nothing official; just us, our girls, and our tour guide. Location: Hadrian’s Wall, Hexham. Weather was perfect. Setting was perfect. It was perfect.
Tried e-biking today for the first time! Sure, I had moments of terror (it’s been a long time since I’ve been on any bikes), but overall I loved it. And I sure did appreciate the assist for those uphills. #ChronicPain #Hypermobility
