Doors and windows are a favorite subject of mine. These reside in Roussillon, France, in the Luberon Valley: #photography

In the center of the photo are two ancient, weathered, wooden double doors, framed by large stone blocks. To the right is a window, also framed by large stone blocks. The house is stone and it looks as though it was plastered at one point and stained or painted red, but most of that has now worn away, revealing the beautiful stonework like a mosaic.

Eugene, Oregon. A public outdoor piano invites spontaneity: #Art #Music

I came across this colorfully and whimsically painted spinet piano on a walk in downtown Eugene, Oregon.An equally playful paint job was applied to the bench. The bench's top has positive and negative silhouettes of fronds outlined in deep blue. The piano is painted with themes of tropical plants and flowers in red, turquoise, chartreuse and blue. The music stand is painted to read, "Please - play one -" while the plaque on the upper left of the piano reads "As a courtesy to neighbors, please don't play after dark."

Charming home and garden in Key West, Florida: #photography

A family residence in Key West, with a front porch and a pink door with purple shutters on the right and in the background, a small garden on the left and in the forebround. Several different kinds of orchids, white, fuchsia, and yellow are grouped at the base of two palm trees, growing up their stems. Other tropical plants, such as bromeliads, are luxuriously crowded around the base as well.

Found object wall-hanging: "Canvas" is a folded piece of salvaged metal, decorated with a found scarp of red-painted plywood. A rusted circular saw blade rests atop it, along with stones. A rubber circle is affixed near the lower right-hand corner, along with a piece of tile turned around to show the pattern of grout on the back. On the very bottom in a crescent-shaped piece of rusted metal, with a smooth tan stone resting in the center. A Z-shaped stroke of apricot-colored paint is visible on the lower right-hand section.

Spring in Northern California: #nature #photography #NaturePhotography

A craggy field of ejecta from the nearby Lassen volcano, which erupted last in the early 20th century is in the foreground, absolutely covered with yellow wildflowers. In the distance are the Yolla Bolly mountains and Trinity Alps. A cobalt blue sky forms the upper half of the image, with a few puffy clouds hovering over the mountains and some thin, wispy clouds above. A skeletal oak tree breaks the horizon to the right.

Found object wallhanging: "Canvas" is finished bird's eye maple topped by a slab of wenge. Not sure what the metal piece is that frames the stones and glass beads but in is long and linear and has several holes regularly spaced and the same size. Two agate slabs are on the top piece while one agate slab is at the bottom of the metal piece. Three stones decorate the bottom and at the top, three long red beads form a starburst. Two pieces of corroded metal extend out from the top of the main metal piece, while upholstery tacks are nailed into the sides.

On the edge of a local Peace Labyrinth. Needing this today. #photography #nature #peace

A photograph taken in very early spring in northern California. To the left, the edge of a Peace Labyrinth, built and maintained by locals. Many of the rocks are painted with pictures or words. The Sacramento River and its riparian zone occupies the rest of the photo, vivid green green growing between the labyrinth and the river. A small cottonwood tree in the distance to the left of the river is sporting a vivid spring green, practically chartreuse.
