Board game designer and creator of Tricked Out. Avid fan of TTRPGs and indie video games. He/him
Just took inventory of everything post-GenCon. Looks like I sold all but 4 copies of Tricked Out! But don't worry, I'll get another print run done in time for PAX West! (And needless to say the Indianapolis Game Market went well. Such an amazing opportunity to get my stuff out there.)
Site of the Indy Game Market in 9ish hours. Er, well I think at least. It's the 3rd floor of the JW at least.
Getting ready for GenCon! I'm briging a ton of copies of Tricked Out and Coupon Clipper, so fingers crossed 🤞 the Game Market goes well.
The old prototype art of Growing Groves vs. what it turned into. (The old art was mostly stock art I googled.) The idea was a fruit-based game but with a fantastical twist. From left to right we have: Swirlberries, glassfruit, cheesefruit, and starfruit. Not shown: The cut fruit with human teeth.
Here's my 9. A mix of games that I wish got more critical acclaim and games I that made me go "this deserved to blow up more".
Fun thought experiment. Tough choice for a few categories. grids.fun/t/about-me-v...
I had a great time at Dice Tower West! I was able to hang out with a lot of people, and it was great playing games and chatting with old and new friends. Game Market Vegas went well too. Sold most of my copies of Tricked Out and a bunch of my copies of Coupon Clipper.
Game Market Vegas is tonight! If you're at Dice Tower West come by the room next to the welcome area at 5pm and check it out. I'll be selling Tricked Out and Coupon Clipper and I know they'll be a bunch of other great stuff too. There's a second session Saturday at 6pm too.
Got a chance to play Fú a couple times this week. I like how it has positive player interaction, something that I think is disappointingly rare in board games.
Playtesting/demoing at Geeky Tea's last night! Some close games of Cat Paper Scissors. It can get very "I guessed you'd guess that I'd guess..." by the end. I also finally got to play it's other sister game Cat Tree by @nathanrlong.bsky.social, which I quite enjoyed. It was mean but in a good way.
Old(ish) prototype of Cat Paper Scissors. I've been redoing the art and layout to replace the generic filler clipart, but mechanically I'm really happy where the game is. And @tatewu.bsky.social's cat tokens look great, of course.
Exciting news! I'm going to be releasing a *second* game next month, this one as part of @tatewu.bsky.social's upcoming Clowder Token Collection Kickstarter. Cat Paper Scissors is a little 18-card PnP that makes use of Ta-Te's cat tokens, where players engine build as they play rock paper scissors.
Some of the cards from my upcoming game, Tricked Out! I'm not the best graphic designer, but I at least wanted the game to be colorful.
I'm happy to announce my next game, Tricked Out! Tricked Out is a card game you play simultaneously alongside an existing trick-taker, with tricks scoring you points in Tricked Out and giving you special abilities. I'll be selling it at Game Market Vegas at Dice Tower West, so come check it out!
Got a chance to play @matthewdunstan.bsky.social's Happy Home last night! It's a sort of combination of a set collection game and a polyomino game, as you try to fill your house with the right pieces of furniture. It was fun, and felt very thematic. (Ignore the fact my bathroom has 2 toilets.)
I had a great (but tiring) time at PAX Unplugged this past weekend! I pretty much spent all of Friday and Saturday running around, and then all of Saturday night at the IGNM. It was amazing seeing everything, and being able to meet so many cool people. Hopefully next year will be just as cool!
The Indie Games Night Market starts in an hour! Come grab a copy of Coupon Clipper and Fold & Fly from me and @drawnonward.bsky.social.
All of the scissors that are going to go into copies of Coupon Clipper! It's worth noting all of the blades are less than 4 inches, so all of the scissors are carry-on safe.
Coupon Clipper is going to be at PAXU! Copies of it'll be sold at the Indie Games Night Market, alongside @drawnonward.bsky.social's Fold & Fly! The game has had a very rocky life, but I'm excited that at least a handful of copies will be able to reach people.
Playtesting in Santa Monica! We got 6 or 7 games to the table so it was a pretty successful afternoon.
I was always pretty happy with how the cover to Propaganda came out. I made it by taking a couple different photos and "rotoscoping" them together. My one regret is using toy pieces, since some people thought they were in the game. I could've probably found a different "model".
Ran a playtest of Propaganda on Saturday! This board has a zone that scores only to whoever has the highest sum of dice in it. (If it's a little off center it's because I was the superpower and had to close my eyes while they played lol.)
