New salamander set up! Top 3 tanks are from left to right 2yr old, then 5yr old, then parents (at least 15yrs) Spanish Newts.
Some birding today. Got our target American White Pelican which normally doesn’t venture into the DC area! 🪶
Did not expect to see my photo and my painting at the public library today as part of their dinosaur scavenger hunt! 🦖🦕📚
“Field office” trip yesterday with the paleo team surveying for fossils. Just found some lignite(wood) and a pinecone but plenty of wildlife including a Box Turtle and American Eel.
Cardinal flowers first bloom! It’s almost as tall as the mailbox!
Found this toy pteranodon at a local children’s museum. Not actually familiar with it. @tetzoo.bsky.social thoughts?
Almost cried in the library over this kids book. Holy crap.
Cataloging the Priconodon tooth with the root found by a volunteer last week. If you’re familiar with ankylosaurs you can tell how huge this is.
Hats off to whomever animated this. He drinks exactly like real reptiles do and not the tongue lapping dog/cat style.
And fyi I did not kill her or her eggs. They were CAREFULLY relocated across the street.
Outdoor umbrellas are like nature’s booster packs. You never know who’s gonna be inside! 🕷️🥚
Me: Universes Beyond isn’t my thing. Also Me: lol dinosaurs go weeeeeee!
It’s stoopid baby season. Check out this fledgling Red-shouldered Hawk running and screaming around my work like a dork. 🦅
I watched a YouTube video and learned which cereal codes go to which figures in the blind boxes and I feel so powerful.
Before and after fixing the shower head. And by fix I mean it needed to be a dinosaur. 🦖
Newest #watercolor is Leptoceratops, who I’ve depicted terrorizing large predators multiple times over the years. He’s also featured at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum in an interactive exhibit. Finally getting a detailed portrait. #paleoart #dinosaur
Very thankful my “grail species” to keep was simple. Marbled Salamander. My favorite amphibian and one of my all time favorite animals.
Total of four reptiles encountered during yardwork today. A big Eastern Garter Snake, 2 Five-lined skinks, and Wormsnake. 🐍🦎🦎🐍
Continuing to slowly go through and redo some of my older painting. Here’s the early ornithiscian, Eocursor, now and my painting from 13 years ago. It’s more likely in my opinion that early dinosaurs had feathers. #paleoart #watercolor
Accidentally spooked a blue jay leaving my house. Saw it drop something on the driveway. It was the luckiest Gray treefrog ever. Placed it in the crook of a nearby tree. Check out that defensive posture! 🌳🐸
Large #watercolor I did several years ago commissioned by Walter Stein for a paper and exhibit display. Every animal here represents real fossils in the paper. I liked having Thescelosaurus as the star of the Hell Creek scene. #paleoart
We’re moving this month so I have no time to properly bird migration season but here’s some European Starlings I photographed last month. They’re invasive, yes, but beautiful. 🪶
