That was an easy find on DriveThru. Love how the Quickstart rules homage the cover art that I shared. :-)
Thanks! I loved first edition Gamma World (pictured here -- I still have my boxed set!), when, yeah, it had mutations and stuff, but was presented as a series sci-fi-ish game and not the mutants-a-go-go romp of later editions.
...that could work and make it great. Okay, my final game for this list might be a controversial one, but it is...Dungeons & Dragons 4th ed! Now, 4E definitely has its issues, but I honestly believe that if it were just some other fantasy game that WotC published... 28/
Only two more to go, so hang in there with me! My next game I'd like to see get a new edition is TSR's Dark Sun. A campaign setting for 2nd ed AD&D, this is by far the best of the campaign settings that tried to do something fresh for D&D. 26/
Next up is Heroes Unlimited (which, btw, was NOT the most comprehensive hero game on the market). Although it got a revised edition, it remained very much a classic Palladium game...with all that that implies (and those of you who've played Palladium games are nodding right now). 24/
MERP hits closer to home for me, and no one can argue with the depth and love that went into its many, MANY superb supplements. Stop me if you've heard me say this before (haha you can't!), but a modernized Basic Role-Playing system approach applied to things MERP got right would rock. 24/
A new edition of Star Frontiers with a better system would be stellar (ha! I did that on purpose). My next game I'd like to see get a new edition would be Iron Crown's Middle-Earth Roleplaying. The One Ring (esp first ed) is good, but it gets a bit more gamist in places than I prefer (ymmv). 23/
So yeah, I'm WAY too fussy about this (although Coriolis: The Third Horizon is a pleasant exception that I highly recommend!). Anyway, Star Frontiers is the closes to an original space opera setting for rpgs that I actually like, but it's mechanics are...yeah. 22/
I'm going with Star Frontiers for my next game. So here's some insight to how my nonsense brain machine works. Space opera is my third-favorite gaming genre after superheroes and kung fu/wuxia, but I would prefer NOT to play in universes from licensed material (except FASA's Trek lol). HOWEVER.. 20/
...another plus, imo, although they put out a bunch of supplements to catch up to the pre-TNG present of the time. Also, bonus points for its superb Klingons supplement (that's right, roleplaying as Klingons before Klingons were cool) based on John Ford's also-superb novel "The Final Reflection" 18/
Next up for me is FASA's Star Trek The Role Playing Game. There have been a number of Trek games using different systems since then, but while they were all okay to good, none of them, imo, was quite right for Star Trek. FASA's game uses a fairly generic percentile based system... 16/
It shouldn't come as a surprise that I love the original Basic Role-Playing system-based Stormbringer game from Chaosium. That said, there are some Stormbringer-specific mechanics, like magic, that needed expansion, balance, and revision. Regardless, looking forward to the Free League edition! 13/
In the case of Weapons of the Gods, it did get a new edition years later...sort of. The designers came back with Legends of the Wulin, a wuxia game without the WotG license, but they went too far, imo. They dialed back things too far, changed some things that just needed small tweaks, and... 10/
...and be better than what we got so far. Just so much lost opportunity with SRoJ. Next up is Weapons of the Gods, a period kung fu/wuxia game that licensed a popular Hong Kong manhua (manga). It has some really fun design ideas, but was a little busy with them and also had some balance issues. 8/
Next up on my new edition wishlist is Skyrealms of Jorune. It features one of the best and most original settings for an rpg EVER. Unfortunately, through multiple previous editions, the mechanics to support gaming in the setting never delivered the goods. Any number of system designs could work.. 7/
There are also a bunch of innovations that came out of the d20 indie scene post D&D 3rd ed's OGL, and Flashing Blades could benefit from a number of design innovations from games of that era and after. 6/
The next game I would love to see get a new edition is FGU's Flashing Blades! (which I feel needs an exclamation point in its title -- and note the cover art by pre-fame Matt Wagner) I am a huge fan of rpg rules that are designed to capture a specific setting and not just genre, and FB nails it. 4/
Superworld suffers from many game balance issues, as adapting the superhero genre to an established system is hard. There are just too many inconsistencies and problems in how various powers and mechanics are handled to be playable. A good, detail-oriented revision today would be great. 3/
Here's a thread on tabletop roleplaying games #ttrpgs that I would love to see get a new edition. Let's start with the game I most desperately wish would get a new edition: Chaosium's Superworld. I love superhero rpgs, and while Champions is my first love, I'm too old for that much math now. 1/

My favorite live action Batman costume (and I mean this sincerely and unironically) is the Nite Owl 2 costume from Snyder's Watchmen. It looks like it's made of some futuristic material that could defend against bullets but also looks like tights and something he could tumble around in.
That being said, Justice League Unlimited (the DCAU series) is my favorite version of the DCU in any medium.
Stop scrolling and post two characters who bring you happiness. Honestly, just any two characters these knucklehead geniuses are playing in any movie.
