On the EV beat at RMI, I quickly realized that the main differentiator in EV adoption was the presence or lack of a state ZEV mandate. When there are no vehicles on the lot, they don't get sold. I would focus my efforts there, rather than on generating FOMO. I had ChatGPT whip up an analysis:
...as was obvious at least two years ago! See @transitionshow.bsky.social Ep. 226 with @oboylemm.bsky.social 2/3
Apparently we've moved on from the "fragile ceasefire" of the past month or so. On the drone attacks violating the latest, day-old ceasefire: "This is not a violation of the ceasefire; it is ceasefire management” apnews.com/article/iran...

Per new analysis by @ember-energy.org, China's solar exports in March were a whopping 68 GW, DOUBLE the previous month, and equivalent to Spain’s entire solar capacity, surpassing the previous record set in August 2025 by 49%. Yow! ember-energy.org/latest-updat...
That article is also quite out of date. These charts are from the recently-released Global Energy Review 2026 from IEA iea.blob.core.windows.net/assets/ade8f...
Do note: that article is now six years old, and things have changed quite a bit since then.

Gotta appreciate the economy of this portion of the latest legal challenge to the DOE's attempt to force the Craig, CO coal power plant to remain open after everyone agreed to close it, and still want it closed! coloradosun.com/2026/01/30/c...). Source: earthjustice.org/wp-content/u...
The DOE is restructuring or eliminating $83.6bn in loans and commitments, redirecting the money away from renewables and toward gas and nukes. And has renamed the Loans Programs Office to the Office of Energy Dominance Financing. www.pv-magazine.com/2026/01/23/u... Suggested new logo:
Important analysis here from Ember. Compare dispatchable solar at $76/MWh (given these assumptions) to the most recent LCOE numbers from Lazard. At these price points, it's game over for thermal generation. (NB: combined cycle gas isn't particularly dispatchable)
Paddington Bear can't get lost in London today - he's got his own station!
Brilliant new ad campaign I just spotted at the Southwark tube station in London.
Yes, the "National Energy Dominance Council" is dumb and just...silly. But this? This is utterly cretinous. (Via Semaphor) Reality-free propaganda from top to bottom. Utter nonsense.
