Also the one single flagship sample they used was also, by their own admission, not really that representative anyways. So this non-peer reviewed study of an unrepresentative flagship uni sample is pretty limited in what it actually means for anything else.

It admittedly lacks a true control group, it does acknowledge the sample appears to become more progressively liberal and the sample is from primarily a more privileged socio-economic background and only one in-situation

This study has not passed peer review. Also while it exonerates professors of moving students liberal, if you actually read it, it does indicate they might move them rightwing (very meager evidence). Since they share course materials with conservative profs, it is arguably the material's fault.

Um they actually indicate some suggestive (but small) evidence of moving students from democrat to Republican. It also doesn't rule out college experience in general as moving students more liberal (which is observed during the college time). They also primarily studied privileged backgrounds too...

Snippets from my upcoming book discussing why I despise attempts to "reclaim" antiquity for contemporary identitarian and political purposes (and how such attempts get repugnant quite fast).

The insidious nature of reclaiming antiquity is perhaps best encapsulated in awful attempts to find “transgender people” in the ancient world or provide a “transgender reading” of X Bible passage or Y ancient author. Before long we find repugnant arguments that Callo(n)’s mutilation was “gender affirming surgery,” because people today are more concerned with repeating familiar stories across time than empathizing with someone who had no say in who they were made to be. Callo(n) was treated for a tumor, which revealed “a man’s privates” (Diodorus Siculus, Bib. 33.11). The surgeon then conducted a penile reconstruction and demanded double fees. We do not learn if Callo(n) had a say in the matter, though it is not likely. There appears to have been no consent to being forced to live as a man. In another case, one Heraïs was found to have a similar condition when a tumor burst revealing a penis. She hid this deliberately and attempted to continue life as a woman, successfully marrying a man before being brought to court, her nudity exposed by force publicly, humiliated, and forced to change her name and live life as a man (Diodorus Siculus, Bib. 33.10). These are not tales of affirmation or gender-affirming surgery (as a trans woman, I find attempts to construe them repugnant and all who try this should be shamed). These are tales of sexualized violence and inflicted social expectations of gender. The misconstruing of this brutal and horrific history is merely to serve the pathetic aims of identity politics. are also readings inherently built upon affluence, treating the trans experience (or X marginalized identity) about receiving healthcare, or some commodity, or social good. It does not speak to either the reality of antiquity or the reality today (where most trans people are denied these things). It is a reading of privilege, affluence, and liberalism.
Under these political interpretive methods, the condescending “task at hand is reading with a trans affirming gaze, one that seeks out and provides room for articulation and representation of trans, nonbinary, and numerous gender variant subjects in the premodern world.” Thus, we obscure history in favor of what best “affirms” this or that minority, instead of speaking to the real conditions under which those people suffered. We erase lived experiences to validate our own shallow senses of self. We obfuscate reality so that we might imaginatively live in a fairy-tale world. It is escapism, an avoidance of practice in the name of self-deception. This process of “reclamation” and affirmative readings, searching the past for tidbits that can be manipulated for self-validation, pervades even western Marxist/socialist discourse; we are so insecure in our malformed mass-market identities—so frightened at the prospect of detangling ourselves from the conditions that make us and usurping them—that we atomize others’ pasts to stabilize our own senses of self in a wanton bout of individualistic selfishness and egotistical identity laundering. It all forgets a basic lesson Marx noted in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte:

Idle and motionless the stars

Today is the 154 birthday of my great great grandfather Jens Peter Hansen. He was a working-class Christian, and later a pastor who advocated communal living, anti-capitalism, anti-colonialism, women's equality, anti-racism, etc. He came from Denmark suffering under the Lutheran capitalists.
