Public high school social studies teacher in the Green Mountain State. (She/her)
Put my boat on the roof rack solo for the first time since pregnancy. Becoming mom to sweet W changed me in many ways. I’m so grateful for it all. AND there are these small moments when I find my “old” self again & it feels like a new kind of reconnection 🥰💛
Beautiful summer day in the green mountains 🥰 Goodnight, good people 💛
Not really on any other social media platform these days, so photos are going here 😂 Date night 🥰
I work with some of the most incredible colleagues in the nation who teach their hearts out for students daily… and this is the state of our schools. We all deserve so so much better 💔
I think we made the right call by postponing our camping trip by a day 😬
Inspired by our awesome librarian, I kept more visible track of my reading this school year:
They arrived & they are beautiful! @prisonculture.bsky.social www.blackbirdletterpress.com/limited-edit...
Never would I have imagined that I’d be teaching an early US history course AND wow what an incredible year of learning! I’m forever thankful for @zinnedproject.bsky.social - their resources have created such a beautiful backbone for our study. This text is up next for me as I look ahead:
Finally reading this absolute GEM of a book! The storytelling transports me!
Our 2026 Robin’s Nest Observation Log had an unfortunate ending today. Sweet W and I found it on the ground with a hole… we talked about predator/prey relationships. The robin is back. Sitting on her empty branch. I wonder if she’ll start again 💛
Blanching fiddleheads (means it’s spring-spring… as opposed to any number of false springs)
Oh… they were INCREDIBLE! Just - on fire! More courage in their pinky toe than most members of congress!
Happening today 💛 if you’re local & able, adding your voice to those outside & in would be helpful. Today, I’ll be with my students & I trust that our community will be there 💔💛
Today we’ve been talking about our sweet bunny at home, “this is Johana and we’re working to keep her safe” In the coming weeks, I’ll continue to explore how to talk about safety with Sweet W (2.5 years old). 💔
The ICE agent who put hands on me is responsible for the crash in front of our school. Also, whhhhhy are our tax dollars going to stake out a mama and her sister and children who have an active (legal) asylum case?! He just happened to run random plates?! www.sevendaysvt.com/news/south-b...
When I got home, I gave sweet W the same bunny. Part of my own metabolizing of yesterday meant building connection & retuning to the home with love. In my dreams, these two bunnies connect two beautiful souls. Two young kids who both deserve freedom 💛
There was extreme brutality today. (Not my video - cross posting from Reddit)
It came! Thank you for the recommendation @chanda.blacksky.app! Reading in the sunshine while sweet W naps 💛
With town meeting day right around the corner, I hope my VT friends remember the importance of local elections (and of passing public school budgets!)
I realize our heads are spinning with all of the horrific actions happening (which… is likely be design). If you have room in your heart for one more story, our students’ family could use support 💔 The way ICE is just decimating communities 💔
