Water is one of farming's most valuable resources. As droughts and floods put growing pressure on European agriculture, through the #CAP, we're helping farmers invest in efficient irrigation and smarter water management 📲 link.europa.eu/4RhPMD
August is one of the busiest harvest months across Europe. After a year marked by higher temperatures and rising costs, farmers are once again putting in long days to bring in this year's harvest. Thank you to everyone helping produce the safe, high-quality food we all rely on🌾🍇🍑🍅🥔
Farmers need certainty, and today we deliver. 👉 On top of €540 million in 🇪🇺 support, our fertiliser measures are now in force, allowing Member States to provide faster, more flexible support to farmers facing high fertiliser costs 🖇️ link.europa.eu/MYvyYk
🌾 Active farming & forest management reduce wildfire risk. The CAP helps by: 🐑 Supporting grazing that clears combustible vegetation 🌾 Creating firebreaks 🌲 Investing in forest restoration & roads for prevention + emergency access Abandoned land, by contrast, becomes fuel.
As brave firefighters battle wildfires, assisted by many farmers, my thoughts are with all those affected. It's also a reminder: prevention starts long before a fire breaks out. The Common Agricultural Policy plays a huge preventive role — backed by €4 billion. Here's how 🧵
Glad to meet Minister Piyush Goyal again, this time in Brussels As our leaders agreed, it’s time to move forward on a Geographical Indications agreement. Protecting quality products and strengthening our partnership go hand in hand. 🇪🇺🤝🇮🇳
A strong start to the Irish Presidency at the #AGRIFISH Council ✅ We adopted CAP flexibilities to help farmers tackle the fertiliser crisis and received strong support for our Livestock Strategy & Protein Plan. Pragmatic solutions, shared ambition, and now a focus on delivery.
Resilience also means becoming less dependent on imported feed. That's why our Protein Plan sets a clear objective ➡️ By 2035, 35% of the protein used for animal feed should be home-grown in the EU, up from 25% today. Livestock and plant proteins are complementary.
Livestock is a European success story. Now we must ensure it remains one. 🇪🇺🐄 For food security, rural jobs, our territories & landscapes.
Today, we act for EU agriculture. 2 strategies. 1 objective 👉stronger European food security 🐄Livestock Strategy 🫛 Protein Plan For the 1st time, a single vision across the whole value chain. ↙️dependency ➕ resilience ➕ opportunities for farmers 👉 link.europa.eu/YNRKX9
Today, I visited feed and vitamins production companies in 🇩🇪 & 🇫🇷 showing the innovation, science and expertise behind European animal nutrition. This is the kind of strength we want to build on with tomorrow’s Livestock Strategy & Protein Plan #StayTuned 🐄
L’agriculture luxembourgeoise a de quoi être fière. 🇱🇺🌾 À la Foire Agricole d’Ettelbruck, aujourd’hui ⤵️ Merci à toutes celles et ceux qui font vivre notre agriculture
Today, the baton passes to the Irish Presidency 🇮🇪 Thank you to 🇨🇾 @cy2026eu.bsky.social and Minister Panayiotou for an excellent six months. Progress on the #CMO, momentum on the CAP and a clear commitment to Europe’s farmers. This leaves a strong foundation for the work ahead.
Today I proposed to Member States an exceptional financial support of €540 million for EU farmers facing high fertiliser costs. I hope the @europarl.europa.eu par and @consilium.europa.eu approve it swiftly 👇
The future of farming depends on talent, innovation and opportunity. That means making sure women can fully participate, lead and succeed in agriculture. Today, the #WomeninFarmingPlatform began its work to help make that a reality across Europe. 🇪🇺🌾 👉 t.co/dIy6u5TWmx
From QR-code labelling to new export opportunities, the 🇪🇺 wine sector is already adapting Today at the European Wine Summit in 🇮🇹, I heard from producers facing changing consumer habits, climate risks & market pressures. Our response: Wine Package, promotion, crisis support & ➕
Good to welcome Thailand’s Deputy PM and Minister of Commerce, Suphajee Suthumpun, to Brussels after my visit to 🇹🇭 in May We are making solid progress on the EU–Thailand trade agreement, and we stand ready to deepen our partnership in respect for mutual sensitivities
A special last #AGRIFISH under 🇨🇾 Presidency in my home country on 🇱🇺 National Day! We reviewed the market situation ahead of summer: fertiliser costs, climate risks & geopolitical tensions still weigh on farmers. Took stock of CAP & CMO progress. Work continues with the 🇮🇪 Presidency
At the National Field Days & Young Farmers’ Day in 🇵🇱 I met young farmers shaping the future of 🇪🇺 agriculture. Poland is now one of the EU’s largest milk producer & a leader in generational renewal. Our task is clear: support the next generation, give them stability & predictability 🌾
Poland shows what generational renewal can look like: more than 1 out of 5 farmers are under 40. Europe needs more success stories like this. In Warsaw 🇵🇱 today, with @eib.org @fi-compass.eu, we focused on one priority: helping more young farmers access finance so they can invest, innovate & grow 🌱🇪🇺
New opportunities ahead for 🇪🇺 agri-food producers in Mexico 🇲🇽 Join me (16–19 Nov 2026) to explore access to the Mexican market, build partnerships & showcase our quality EU food & drink products🥩🧀🍷🍺🥛🥕 Apply by 30 June 👉 link.europa.eu/gmgJ9T
Harvests need farmers. Farmers need fertilisers. I propose €540 million in EU support for farmers hit by ↗️ fertiliser costs — possibly rising to €1.5 billion with national co-financing. Europe will always back those who feed us. 1/2
Good discussions at @foresteurope.bsky.social Ministerial Conference in Stockholm 🇸🇪 As pressures on our forests grow, we need policies that recognise the role of active forest management 🌳 as an important part of many farm businesses, supporting rural incomes & Europe’s bioeconomy 👩🌾
Just toured Lantmännen’s biorefinery and cooperative in 🇸🇪, where 🌾 Grain is transformed into food, feed and renewable fuel ♻️ Residues become biogas and bio-fertilisers ↪️ More value for farmers, lower emissions 🚜 A great example of the bioeconomy at work
Day 2 in 🇹🇭 at the largest food fair in Asia celebrating what connects us: a shared appreciation for quality food, strong traditions & trusted products 🤝 🥥 Proud to mark Thailand’s latest Geographical Indication recognition: protecting quality, reputation & product origin
Good discussion with 🇹🇭 Deputy PM Wongsawat on how Europe and Thailand can work together on the circular and bioeconomy ♻️ sustainable food systems 🌱innovation & research 🔬 Stronger cooperation means new opportunities for farmers, businesses, and investment on both sides 🇪🇺🤝🇹🇭
✈️ Touched down in Bangkok 🇹🇭 with 98 EU agri-food businesses! Looking forward to opening opportunities for 🇪🇺 producers, strengthening cooperation with one of our key trading partners in Southeast Asia, and showcasing the quality and diversity of EU products on the Thai market
