Some day when you want to try something different bake a sweet potato (or Japanese yam works well) and while still warm lay in a few pieces of a good sharp cheddar, then lay a fried egg or two on top, garnish with chives, and a sprinkling of sweet smoked paprika. #decadent
VeRA’s vet calls this a “slicker brush”. Both Chunk and VeRA love to be brushed with it. Mine needs a cleaning but this is great for getting out mats. Just take your time and brush regularly. 😻😻
Back from a quick trip to the mall and Farmers’ Market. Found that duck breast in Denningers and snagged it immediately. Steam up some asparagus, lay in some BBQ sauce on each and wrap with that thinly slice duck. Whoa baby!! A nice crisp beer and your tap dancin’!! 🕺
Day 3 we are officially at 11 on a scale of 10, at least the heat dome has moved off … it may* dissipate over the weekend
Balcony views this morning. Temps still forecast to reach 29c (84f). The air has a flavour.
In spite of the heat, I did a little cooking. Salt-baked Japanese yams, steamed new potatoes. Put together a potato salad. Ingredients in the Alt.
I’d like you to meet Gus. He’s been a busy lad inspecting the bridges to the South today. Gus has been somewhat disappointed as there are no chips to steal from young children. Won’t you help Gus, buy yourself some chips. 🍟

Later lunch today. Baked sweet potato, wedges of Snowdonia Rock Star cheese, two properly fried eggs, and Spanish sweet smoked paprika. *cook like nobody’s watching
I have a visitor and I believe they are in the shade to cool off!
I highly recommend this! Hard clumping, minimal dust, made from corn rather than clay or silicate. 😻👌
Never mind the fancy designs. VeRA also enjoys the Jackson Pollock offerings of Churu
Out on the Lake, a freighter warns that it cannot be seen. A dog barks adding to the depth. The silence between is a friend. Good morning greetings.
Secondary alert issued. This may spoil our Canada Day fireworks celebration. *oh darn **i may actually get sleep 😁👌
I like to keep a few tomatoes here to pass by dozens of times a day. They’re at eye level so they’re hard not to see. That’s dozens of potential photographs a day. It’s primarily a mental exercise.
Back in the day ~1982, I dug a 9x12 ft garden in the back yard and grew nothing but 3 varieties of peas. Trained them to climb on string between wooden stakes. My eldest disappeared once for hours sitting and munching as many as she could get her hands on.
